From the tutorials I've watched, making the record sheets and tables cards might work, as 1-card decks, though I'm not sure if there's a better way.
While I definitely prefer playing with actual miniatures, I think this could be the second-best way to play BattleTech, since MegaMek's graphics suck and it feels sort of removed from the experience with everything done for you. This looks fantastic and I look forward to what this becomes in the future.
Catalyst has the Intro sheets available online, and 4chan's /btg/ thread has PDFs of just about every single record sheet you could possibly want. If those aren't enough, or if you want custom variants (like my double UAC/20 Atlas), Solaris Skunk Werks can make custom record sheets of any custom variant you could want.
Additionally, if this is to become a thing, the tables that come with the intro box are extremely handy and make the game experience much more enjoyable. I think I can provide scans of those if you really want them. I'd help make the game itself, but I really don't have any idea how it actually works (since I don't have the game yet).

So light green for light woods, dark green for heavy woods, and 1 tree with the corresponding colour at one of the hex's borders. It's enough to be seen but not too much to put a lot of mechs in. I hope this helps you to improve the maps. If I can help with some simple 3D engine, I would. But I wasn't even successful with importing a .obj file from tinkercad (with the way explained in the Tabletop Simulator, pasting it to pastebin, doing RAW etc.) so I guess I can only help you with ideas.
