If you eat the 'cakeprep' directly, the baking pan is not returned. However, if you add ingredients to the 'cakeprep' to turn it into a 'cakeraw' and then bake and slice it, the baking pan is correctly returned.
I used my pan to bake a cake, but I didn't get it back. The game gave me a bowl, and now I'm stuck and can't bake again!
