Chewing Tobacco Fix (build 42.12.X)

Description
Chewing Tobacco Fix

Build 42.12 introduced a nasty bug that makes one use of chewing tobacco permanently remove stress and unhappiness for good in a save (only posibility is to fix it through the debug menu).

This fix restores the original behavior of chewing tobacco.

How it works

For smokers — chewing tobacco will completely remove stress (as it used to before the bug).

For non-smokers — it will remove 5 points of stress.

For both — it removes 10 points of unhappiness.

The fix applies to all vanilla chewing tobacco items, so no manual setup is required.

Compatibility

This mod is ONLY compatible with Build 42.12.X.
It is completely safe to add or remove from an existing save.
No vanilla files are overwritten.
This mod uses an event that is a part of Events Plus API mod by Dismellion

problem solved!

mod called "Thirst/Calories/Temperature/Wetness NaN fix" in the combination with your fix have repaired everything.

thanks again, eot

My mod does absolutely nothing to the level of wetness or body temperature, it doesn't even read them, that's for sure. On the other hand something must've broken your save, so it would be beneficial to pin down which of the mod could've caused it, so that it doesn't happen again in the future ;)

Did you ever enable / disable any mod when playing on this save?
Dingus 4 Nov @ 7:41am
ill just leave it here for the research:

it's not only the body temp, but also wetness
i've tried to use debug on a backup to fix stress, wetness and body temp, and move it from "nan" to any value

stress worked well, no problem, but wetness and body temp are permanently locked in "nan"

turning god mode ON fixed it temporary(temp was set to 37, wetness to 0), but it broke immediately without godmode

i've tried doing it vanilla, same result

i'm to dumb to think about anything else so...
my save is broken, it was a great run but walking around naked in winter doesn't feel right.

tldr: stay away from chewing tobacco

oh, I use this mod too, and it does not happen in my case, it could be a mod conflict then, but there's no telling which ones don't work together without investigation, anyhow thanks for the report

Hi! i can see my BodyTemp thanks to "[B42] SimpleStatus-Fixed" mod

i'm also using 2 mods which do stuff to moodles, so maybe that's the problem
"Ain't That A Kick In The Head? (Start with a headshot wound)"
"Dynamic Traits and Expanded Moodles [B41 & B42]"

Thanks for your work! (i'm not expecting anything here, maybe some other mods broke it, but everything worked fine till chewing tobacco incident)

Simon Jarett, get into the debug mode, when in-game, press key bound to "debugger" (you can look it up in the keybindings), when it pops up, type "zzz" or "chew" in the search field, like so:

Can you see zzz_ChewingTobaccoFix.lua? If you don't the script is not loaded for some reason. But if you do, try placing this mod in the bottom of your load order.

@Dingus is that so? Lemme check. Well... I can see that it messes up "Food sickness", the temperature seems to be fine, not nan, after using chewing tobacco:

I'll sort the food sickness in a patch then. But where do you see the BodyTemp exactly?

maybe it's some other mods i have but here's my problem:

in my game chewing tobacco has messed up stress AND BodyTemp
downloading this fix helped with stress, but my body temperature is still messed up(same "nan" value like in stress), any idea how to fix it?
Simon Jarett 3 Nov @ 12:58pm
Yes, of course I did all of this. It still doesn't work

Well, you subscribe to this mod, which I believe you did (the big green button below the image gallery), and then you have to enable the mod in "Mods" list - you can access it in the main menu, you select this mod, a green checkmark appears next to it, you click "apply" and then start/load the game. It should be working as intended.
