Cavalcade of Steel [ABF:CoS]

"To live is to die; Salvation is bound in steel."

A faction of biophobic synstructs has made their presence known by declaring war against all life. With a vast arsenal of sacrificial drones serving a shadowy and well-hidden organization of sapient synstructs, the Cavalcade of Steel promises to demonstrate the strength of their steel and prove the fallibility of flesh.

Features:
This mod contains a single faction of naturally hostile synstructs:
  • The faction will be hostile to all factions by default.
  • The faction will be permanently hostile to players as long as they have organics. If the player is inorganic but later acquires organic colonists, slaves, or animals (NOT prisoners), the faction will deliver an ultimatum demanding their removal. Failure to comply will result in war.
  • The faction uses a variety of drones from my synstruct mods: martial synstructs make up the bulk of their forces, while civil synstructs take less overt roles and utility synstructs play their part. Biomimetics are also utilized where applicable.
  • The faction has a plethora of resources that are useful for synstruct societies, and those who can earn their favor will find themselves with access to caravans and orbital traders carrying cheap drones for sale alongside a large proportion of industrial goods.
  • The faction's drones are programmed to self-destruct rather than permit capture, leaving their foes with little ability to reap the rewards of defeating them - no small feat, given that the faction attacks in greater numbers and with greater tenacity than most other factions.

Yes, I know the preview is of Synstructs Core. I have the art work type disabled and cannot make new graphics. The preview is off, the faction has no unique icons either in the faction interface or on the world map, and there's probably some things I don't even know could use some new graphics. Alas, I cannot fix these myself! If anyone would like to donate art assets to resolve this, I would be much obliged!

The directive responsible for their unceremonious self-destruction is configured in the xml files. If you want to allow them to be downed and captured, it is certainly possible to go into the files and make a little edit to remove ABF_Directive_Synstruct_Martyr from the requiredDirectives on all of the appropriate pawn kinds. Having mod settings to tweak this would require me to have code editing Defs after the game has loaded, which is generally frowned upon in modding.

Any chance you could implement a mod option for it that they don't self destruct on defeat? Would love to capture some for some... Voluntold labour :P
