Description
This mod adds a yearly tribute to your liege.
All characters in the entire game will pay 15% of their wealth to their liege.
Courtiers/guests/vassals/children, everybody.

The idea behind this was to increase investment in holdings and armies at the top.
Behind the scenes, all characters get a trait called Feudal Life.
Any new character receives this trait, so if someone is created via event or born they'll get it. Also all current characters in the game will receive it either on game start, or at the first end of year - Jan 1st they'll have it.
This trait gives you 1 gold per month, so your peasants actually have something to pay you come tax season.

15% isn't a huge amount for the first 30-50 years or so, might be a little overpowered later on.. we'll see.
ALL lieges get this, meaning if you have a liege you'll also be paying them 15% of your wealth.

Doesn't edit base game files, compatible with everything.

Yea...I adjusted it to 1% to reduce the amount of snowballing and trying to get other mods that adjust Ai behavior to...spend money LOL.

Even 1% ends up with alot of gold for top lieges, but nothing over 10k in 50 years so far.

I think the problem with AI is because they use a figure called short term gold and long term gold, which is completely based on income to handle to decisions, rather than stockpiled gold. The game can't account for events or mods like this handing them stacks of gold. Most likely this probably only results in the hiring of mercs during war time rather than anything beneficial for the AI kingdoms.
I'd need to rewrite this mod to give them income per month, rather than actual gold - then they could use it for decision making.
But, I'm not playing right now - sorry.

@Senjinkira Kind of, unfortunately the AI isn't that smart, so even with piles of gold they don't really.. DO anything useful with it. Ideally they'd build on all available holdings, build and then improve buildings, create titles, create and maintain HUGE armies etc.
Pretty much none of that happens, even with a hundred thousand gold rulers rarely even have a single MAA maxed out.

But yes, it's a little high and stacks exponentially for the larger realms. More noticable in games where there's only a handful of top lieges, like in AGOT.
Normal vanilla games would be pretty mild as they aren't all feeding into one top liege.

Feel free to edit it if you want, or look in my workshop files, there's a mod to destroy all gold in the game. If you need to reset.

I played a game for like 30 years and i had all the major rulers with 200k+ gold

I like the mod, but uh...there needs to be some way to balance that.

Unless that's the intended feature.

is this 15% on top of regluar contracts for your vassals? Seems crazy..

@eridano2013 well we give them 12 gold per year for free and the tax is only 15% of their total, so every peasant including children would be coming out ahead.

I like this Mod, but it seems too harsh; I would suggest making the tax payable starting at age fourteen.

Unfortunately I have not found any examples prior to 1377 except a Roman law that taxed men from the age of 14, and women from 12 to 65.
