Description
tl;dr
Makes weapons single grab after you leave the first saferoom you load in to. Once any player exits the starting saferoom all weapons on the current and remaining maps and saferooms become single grab. Ensures everyone gets to start with a gun.

-The first saferoom doesn't necessarily mean "first level's saferoom". It's the first saferoom of whatever level you choose to start on.

-This also affects the infinite pipe/molotov/pill boxes found on The Passing.

Why I made this alternative to the original
In the original Single Grab Weapons mod you slowly build animosity towards your friends when they reach the gun table before you. After several campaigns you get in to arguments over who gets to start with a gun. You start doing bad things like refusing to rescue friends who get picked by specials just so you can grab their gun when they die.

"Mom said it's my turn for the gun!!!"

No more of this, now everyone gets a gun when we start.

Hey this is an amazing QOL addon that makes the game harder in a smart way, can i just ask could you please make this one not effect survival mode please?

My mod doesn't do that. It's a vscript contained in a .vpk file that doesn't do anything if it's not enabled. It has no way to impact your game if you do not have it enabled.

there's mods that change the scripts in your files and even if disabled, the script remains enabled


i know this because i had a similar problem in black mesa, some viewmodel bob mod remained even if i unsuscribed from it, and it remained even if i uninstalled BM and reinstalled it

If the mod is disabled it cannot affect your game. You must have some other mod active that is affecting it.

i Noticed that now all Pistols in l4d1 campaigns are single-grab except for finales.

Look at valve's wiki for a list of the event and script functions. Then when you decide to make a mod you pick out which functions you'll need and chain them together to do something. For the chaining together part you can figure out a lot of stuff just doing a web search for "how to do X in squirrel code language". Most things you want to do will require some event in game to start from. Example from this mod, I knew I wanted to delay the single grab logic until players left the safe room. Conveniently, there's an event called "player_left_safe_area".

Also I haven't been modding very long. You can get better advice if you ask someone who has been doing this for a long time.
