CSD Bomb Launcher

Survival ready!

Fully paintable custom model, with construction stages and ammunition model.

This rear-mounted bomb launcher is designed to allow fighter-bombers to perform a more specialised role. Rather than the well established missile launcher, this weapon is not mounted to fire forwards, but rather to propel a payload backwards at 20m/s. The intended effect is achieved when the pilot is heading directly towards his target at a minimum of 25m/s, so that when the bomb is launched, the bomber's inertia carries it towards the target.

An attempt to clarify the functionality of this weapon:
Bomber flies forwards at 30m/s. Bomb is launched, leaving launcher backwards at 20m/s relative to bomber. Actual velocity of the bomb is 10m/s forwards. Bomber changes course, allowing the payload to cruise towards the target.

Note that due to the sensitivity of the circuitry and software aboard the payload, the flight speed will not exceed 20m/s in any direction. This means that at 40m/s and upwards, the bomber's velocity will no longer positively influence the bomb's velocity. Flying above a velocity of 40m/s towards the target is not recommended and is done only at the discretion of the pilot. CSD encourages safe bomber practices at all times and holds no liability for impacts and collisions.

The CSD Wakebomb Launcher may hold a single CSD Wakebomb at a time. It may be resupplied via large conveyors, though this is not always desirable on a small vessel. As such, a typical flight has a payload of a single bomb. Due to the slow flight of the bomb, it is imperative that hostile turrets set to shoot down missiles are disabled or otherwise engaged, and that the target is large, slow, or stationary.

Ahh i see the script for these bombs were made before planets and as such the gravity aspect has broken the bombs.

I think if you made the bombs penetrate the shield of the popular shield mods are increased their damage by 15% this would be the most popular weapon on the workshop.

It was an odd system to begin with, with a specific use-case. It's even more marginalised since the advent of planets with their atmospheres and gravity. It just wouldn't make sense.

what you should do then. is make this one for small ships and make a double or triple length version for larger ships. or you can keep the cal the same, and just make it one block again. because it seams really out of place on larger grids
