Sniper Turret (AI)

Description
Sniper turrets based on a mix of my large sniper rifle mod, and the gatling turret example.

Mod includes both large and small block versions, with the AI active.
The guns use the same ammo as their fixed-emplacement counterparts in the Large Ship Sniper mod, and do the same damage. Any future updates to the specs of either of these mods will be applied to both.

Survival ready: no, as a game bug renders them non-operational until you save and load again.
I'm aware of the audio bug causing it to not play the whole firing sound if you release the trigger, that's a game bug, so there's nothing i can do about it.

WARNING: Do not use the AI turrets in survival, there have been reports of these crashing servers and clients alike.

The ammos that work with the sniper turrets are as follows:
Small Sniper Turret:
"High Speed Low Damage Sniper Round"
"Low Speed High Damage Sniper Round"
"D.U. Armor Piercing Round" (coming soon)

Large Sniper Turret:
"H.E. Sniper Round"
"Long H.E. Sniper Round"
"Heavy D.U. Armor Piercing Round" (coming soon)

THIS MAY VERY WELL CRASH YOUR GAME!! Be careful, and backup your world before using this mod.

Thank you for answering my question.

@FloppyDolphin The incompatibility comes from the devs changing bits and pieces of the modding API, in ways that don't play well with existing mods.
As to why mine are broken, if I knew how they'd managed to break them the last couple of times, they wouldn't be broken anymore. they've changed something in the way the mounting information is stored and read, so my custom mountpoints are being turned into awkward mounting.
As to why I needed custom mountpoints, i wanted players to be able to mount blocks to the sides of the turret base, but not up the side of the 'cube' that technically defines the space it occupies, block-wise.
Now whatever they have done is making the turret only placeable if you are looking at it's placement point from the 'bottom' of the turret, any other direction doesn't seem to want to place at all. Does this make sense to me? No, it doesn't, it is theoretically impossible for a placement definition to turn into that, and yet, it has happened.

Why do mods become incompatable in the first place? Also what breaks your mods in the updates?
TheAngrySquirrel  [author] 24 Dec, 2016 @ 4:05pm
@FloppyDolphin It shouldn't but that doesn't mean it won't.
Too much has been changing lately, and not all of it for the better.
Most of the people i used to play with stopped playing, and we can't run our dedicated server anymore as of several updates ago, because the memory usage went from ~2gb to 10~16, and we share server resources with a few other games.
Since I can't play with others anymore, I have almost completely stopped playing, and can no longer adequately test my mods agains the constant 'updates' being thrown out by Keen.

So, does the normal one not crash when placed?
TheAngrySquirrel  [author] 24 Dec, 2016 @ 12:40pm
@FloppyDolphin The AI version was released separately because of a known bug, it crashes the client when placing it in survival, and since this is a base game bug I have no way of fixing it.
The black textures are because it hasn't been updated to DX11, which is my fault, as i haven't had the time to slow down and fight with the tools to get it done.

Also, as I told Annihilist below, the devs have done something to the block placement handling that has broken most of my mods in a way I'm having trouble fixing.

Ok ahoukenja, this version with AI is crashing me. Also it appears as pitch black.

@Annihilist unfortunately, the devs seem to have changed something in the way block placement is handled that has broken (so far as i can tell) all of my mods, and I cannot figure out what they changed, so fixing it is beyond me atm.
At current even if you manage to place one of the turrets from this mod, or a laser lance from my other mod, they place oddly, and don't function properly, because the game is misinterpreting the model dimentions and placement information.

I was able to place the turret once out of sheer luck, but i have not been able to do it again. rather weird.
