Introduction
There are 2 types of xp in vampire hunter. The xp you'll acquire during your game, during your hunt, which will enable you to purchase main weapons, relics and secondary weapons. And the xp your character will acquire at the end of the game, which will enable you to obtain skills, active and passive, as well as upgrade parts to unlock permanent upgrades.

I had a lot of fun trying to figure out how xp work.

If you're looking for a basic guide to the game's mechanics, this is the place.

How does xp work during hunt ?
During your hunt, your character will earn xp by collecting souls.

Blue earns 1 Yellow earns 2 Purple earns 5 Red earns 10.

Each time you kill a monster, it will have a basic chance of releasing a soul. This chance can be increased, thanks to the “Soul Chance” statistic, before the game (with passive skills), or during the game with relics that will increase your “Soul Chance”.

The color of the soul seems to be linked to different factors: your survival time, the type of enemy. Everything is specific to each map, depending on the wave you're facing.
All of this seems to have been decided beforehand by the developers, so that everything is well-balanced.

+ “strong” monster + souls will pay off

How does character xp work ?
For the xp you'll earn at the end of your game. It's directly linked to your score at the end of the game. If you have a score of 1,000,000. You'll get 1,000,000 xp. You'll also earn xp if you end the game yourself (escape>main menu). That you die.

Here's xp table[docs.google.com]

We can see that the curve follows a logic, but it's inconstant.

The initial progression from level 1 to 5 is just a doubling of xp.
Then, from level 6 to 54, we're on an average +720.
At level 56-125, it's an average of +25 xp per increment.
And at the end, it looks like it's all done by hand.

A score of 23,485,692 would be required to xp from level 1 to 150.

What influences the score ?
Now that we know that score = XP, let's look at the actions that give score.
Here is a list of actions that may or may not influence the score

Kill enemies
+100, It doesn't matter who the enemy is. However, killing an enemy on contact does not score points (touching the enemy with our character).
Kill boss
between 100 and 17,000; The figures give +100 for certain bosses (or 101, 102,...). And occasionally, you'll earn 14,000 without really knowing why. And all on the same boss in same game.
Survival time
1 second survival = +400 points
Golden Chest
+5000
Red Chest
No
Catch souls
+100, whatever the color. But souls and bosses give a certain number of scores. BUT, they are very hard to measure and seem to change all the time. For souls, I sometimes get 152, 197, 122. I don't know why.
The combo doesn't seem to affect it, nor the way of killing (weak point, headshot
Hitting enemies with ammunition
No
End the game
Yes, but your score will be different on the last frame in the game and on the scoreboard. The game must use a formula. But at the moment, I can't find the formula.
The only thing I can say is that it's degressive: the higher your score, the lower the “percentage” added at the end.
It must be to avoid discouraging players who don't manage to finish a game.
Kills do not count towards the added score.

Fact: Bat pilots are considered to have been killed when they explode. They therefore have a chance to give a soul.
So what's the strategy for maximizing the score?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Thank you for reading this guide. It has been translated with DeepL. I apologize if there are big grammatical errors, (I don't speak English well, and I need support.)

If you have any other comments, things to say, or techniques for xp until I get the other guide out, don't hesitate.

I'm still working on a few things to flesh out this guide, including proofs of what I'm saying in the "What influences the score?" section.
