Description
Vacuum Balloons – Buoyant Flight! 🎈
As seen on Wrong Way Out!

Float like a balloon, soar like an airship!

Vacuum Balloons provide lift using pure buoyancy, letting your ships rise effortlessly without thrusters or fuel. Instead of burning propellant, these balloons naturally provide lift, keeping you afloat in planetary atmospheres.

How They Work:
Buoyancy-Based Lift – Vacuum cells generate just the right amount of force to counteract gravity.
Mass Matters – Heavier ships need more Vacuum cells to stay afloat.
Centre of Mass – The Vacuum cells apply their force at the average position so make sure to balance the craft.
Control – Vacuum cells don't work like normal thrusters they always provide force in the up direction regardless of orientation, They also disable ship dampers in the direction axis of the arrows so keep that in mind when building. Pressing C or Space will cause the grid to sink or lift but they wont stop once they get moving so manual counteraction is required.
Info – The thrust override slider will show how much the Vacuum Cells total lift is used so keep an eye on it

Well it looks like if I have multiple gyros, I can use one to override, which stops the randomly falling backwards issue, and the other three still let me turn the ship and stuff.

I've tried this out now, and its interesting, I just can't balance the ship and stop it from falling back and forth, especially when cargo changes. There really should be a way for each one to balance its own thrust the way hover does, perhaps in a less OP way. Minor adjustments so that you still need some semblance of balance rather than sticking more thrusters on one side of the ship or something.

What about a duplicate version then, that allows that functionality? So people can choose easy or hard?

I wouldn't strictly say its overpowered, you still need them in various places and possibly a lot of them for big things. However I'll try the current version. I'm balance testing some other things right now, and found the sponsored CAMP mod to be way overpowered with no configs to make it better so now I gotta remove it from my world. :P

yes I've seen the hover mod, I intentionally did not design an auto balance, as it would make using them too easy, I wanted a challenge for using them so they wouldn't be strictly overpowered

That won't really help in balancing though, and still requires you to somehow design your ship to be perfect.

Have you seen the hover mod? It has an option for auto balancing in it. It still requires a few properly placed units but once you have enough spaced apart to overcome improper balance, they can auto balance you.

So you could do something similar, requiring at least four of these on your ships spread apart to act as balancers. My idea was to add them to my ships as a way to enter and exit atmosphere safely, having a ballast tank that can slow my ship down and let me float till I find a place to land.

no auto-balancing, but you can turn individual cells on and off

So I assume that the vacuum cells don't have settings in them for auto balancing? Allowing one cell to empty or fill to help balance the craft out? Much in the way that a submarine can balance under water and change its depth on the fly.

anyone know of a way to edit this mod so it doesnt bother with center of mass and just works like thrusters. I want to make a asymetrical grid and dont want to mess aroung trying to ballance it

These work amazing with Water mod, i just found out lol

a simple rotor fixes it, thank you! :D
