Hunting Grounds introduces a more dynamic predator system to RimWorld, ensuring better ecosystem balance by spawning predators when the prey population increases.



⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  🦊 Predators Respond to Prey Overpopulation 🦊

🔹 Dynamic predator spawning based on prey count.
Predators appear when prey populations increase beyond a set threshold.

🔹 Configurable tracking system.
Choose whether to track each prey species individually or as a combined total.

🔹 Natural wildlife selection.
Predators are chosen from the biome’s existing wildlife, ensuring they fit naturally into the environment.

🔹 Season-aware spawning.
Predators will only appear in seasons suitable for their survival.

🔹 On the Prowl.
Predators preferentially spawn near their prey for more authentic encounters.

🔹 Size-based predator selection.
Enable an option for predators to match the size of their prey.

🔹 Hungry predators for realistic hunting.
Choose whether predators arrive hungry, increasing their chances of hunting immediately.

🔹 Gradual predator introduction.
Predators spawn over time instead of all at once, preventing sudden ecosystem disruption.

🔹 Spawn alerts for better visibility.
An in-game alert will notify you when new predators arrive.

🔹 Temporary visual markers.
Hover over the alert to temporarily mark new predators with white arrows.

🔹 Adjust prey population thresholds.
Set the minimum number of prey required before predators start spawning.

Control how often the game checks for overpopulation.

🔹 Predator spawn limits.
Limit the maximum number of predators that can spawn at once.

🔹 Toggle alerts for immersion.
Option to disable spawn alerts for a more immersive experience.

If you want predators to interact more intelligently with boom creatures (those that explode on death), I highly recommend using these mods alongside Hunting Grounds:

🔹 Predators Hunt Boom Critters – Allows predators to hunt boom creatures without fearing explosions.

🔹 BoomMod or BoomMod Expanded – Boom creatures will only explode on death when the killing blow is a gunshot, burn, another explosion, or they are otherwise on fire at the time. This makes it safer for predators to hunt them.

@Lemniscate_Mike Hmm, the error seems to be related to "JobDriver_PredatorHunt". Since my mod doesn't touch any job drivers, I don't think it's related to the issue you're having.

Getting a really consistent red alert all of a sudden with this. I'm not sure at all, but I think a warg is trying to eat a corpse in my base?

@Lemniscate_Mike Yes, I’ll add this setting in the future. I’m quite busy at the moment, so it might take some time, but it’s now added on my TODO list.

@jagdpenguin That’s also a nice idea, but unfortunately it’s not something I can include in this mod. I’ll look into it separately though.

Any chance you could add a setting that used both individual animal AND/OR max animals?
Like if there's 10 boars = Spawn predators
And/Or if there's 30 total animals = spawn predators

I dont know if its possible, but could you make it so that animals will avoid pawns when they arent actively being hunted. I do kinda find it immersion breaking that a random dear can stumble around right next to my pawns and not run away. if a mod like that already exists that would be nice too.

This is one of my favorite mods, it helps keep the world feel so much more alive, especially with the large amount of animal mods I use that add a lot of 'prey'. Thank you for the mod!
