in the vietnam conflict this grenade launcher the M79 had a special ammo , a soldier was given about 24 grenades / shells and out of 24 a few where "buckshot" in other words it was bassically a 40mm shotgun shell , i have seen people turn the L4D SCAR into an assault shotgun , i think it would VERY interesting and very useful addition

does this work with singleplayer servers?

Also, I find the m79 to be quite situational. Good for tanks and not much else
