Iron Man (Unique Unit) [NEW]

Description
This is an update to my old Iron Man mod. It has been so long and this is such a large depature and balance compared to the old mod that I figured I'd re-release it so people could have their choice between the two. That's all a long way of saying "I accidentally hit the 'New Mod ID' button" lol. ANYWAYS ---

This mod adds Iron Man as a highly upgradable unit which, through combat experience, becomes the most powerful unit in the game. This mod is nearing a final state which will, hopefully feature a 3D model of Iron Man courteousy of, *Enter Your Generous Name Here!*. There is not currently a 3D designer on this project, so please feel free to reach out if you know how to do such a thing and, together, we can make a fun mod that serves this idea well. :) I do not own the rights to any of the names, likenesses or characters in this mod; they all belong to Marvel/Disney as far as I am aware.

The man who originally was going to do the 3D modeling for this project, Patch, will not be able to complete it due to computer failure and terminal illness. Message me, or look for him on Steam and message him, if you want to look in to helping him out and start reversing his fortune. I don't want to release too much of his personal business as I didn't even ask him if it was okay to mention this on here, but gaming is one stress-reliever for him and he can't even do that right now. Let's try to band together and fix that :)

This mod will require the Brave New World DLC to the best of my knowledge, my apologies for any inconveniences that this may cause. If you are on the fence on whether or not to purchase the DLCs, I fully recommend buying them as even without mods the new features in the DLCs make the game significantly more enjoyable. Realistically, they're almost always on sale and you can get a significantly better civ experience for very cheap.

To obtain Iron Man, you must research Repulsor Tech and build the Stark Tower. The Stark Tower will grant an additional 15% Science Production in its host city as well as the ability to build more Iron Man units. Iron Man features a combat strength of 75. Iron Man has a custom promotion tree that will make him significantly more powerful through promotions gained from combat experience. Due to Tony Stark's self-professed brilliance, Iron Man gains experience much more rapidly than any other other unit in the game.

This mod includes custom sound bytes for the new technologies (Arc Reactor Tech & Repulsor Tech) and the Stark Tower wonder, all coding that I could not find present in any other mod (not saying that it doesn't otherwise exist per-se, just that over the course of downloading 200 mods, I couldn't find anybody else that had implemented it :) ) It also includes custom icons and images for the new content, though that is much more commonplace :)

This is my first mod (well, this Iron Man project as a whole is) and everything I know about modding is from the work I've done on this. I came in without any outside knowledge. If there's anything wrong with the mod, please please please leave a comment to alert me to it. I'll figure out how to fix it accordingly :)

Awesome unit and tech overall but I noticed if I take the last city with an Iron Man sometimes it doesn't register the losing civ as being eliminated (even though I didn't have complete elimination on) not sure what causes it.

it didn't stop me from gaining a conquest win and if it helps this happened when I played Isabelle (Animal Crossing) and the two civs that stuck were the Osmur (Elderscrolls Orcs) and MSF

@Many Faced - lol Sorry you think so, I like Civ 6 personally (especially with R+F.) Here's to hoping that the work done on this mod can be taken by somebody else with more knowledge to both expand upon it and get it up to date (if needed.)

Sorry Corn, sounds like it's conflicting with another mod or an update broke it. I haven't touched this code in so long that I honestly don't know where to start looking to fix it. I hope disabling another mod fixes it for you :)

i know this is a bit old but i didn't see anyone complain about the problem im having: this mod causes me a lot of texture glitches, including all country and barbarian notification icons as well as faith and culture icons on texture yeilds to all appear as black boxes, sometimes with red lines in them. i tried the old iron man mod to see if that worked but all of the textures are missing and it gives a little text error notification each time i start the game or open the tech tree. dunno why nobody else is having these problems. i have a lot of mods installed but haven't had any glitches until now.

it does, and I'll wait for it to drop a bit too. Hopefully somewhere will put it on sale around $20 or so come December

yeah if i manage to cobble it together i definitely will link it. as far as civ 6 goes AintNoOneGotMoneyForThat.jpg i bought civ 5 with all dlc on steam sale for seven dollars total. cant be spending 60+$ on a game when i havent even finished messing around in 5 yet. although im not gonna lie the trailer looks dope

@t3hnosp0on - Have at it! If you could comment back with the link for it, I would love to check it out and see what you get working :) At this point I have a 2/3 working mod on my pc that was so close to having a custom unit working, but I know I changed a bunch of other stuff too and I don't remember what exactly lol. I've kind of abandoned it accordingly (at least for now) and am hoping to pick it back up for Civ 6 :)

Na, that display just doesn't update and I never figured out a work-around. Glad that it's working for you now (mostly) and that you're enjoying it!
