Description
This mod updates the base game meals to use the Food Texture Variety Core graphics class! When a meal is created, it will now choose from a variety of meal textures, without changing a single recipe.

Meal textures are chosen by ingredient, but the mod includes options to use a purely random selection.

Features

- Simple Meals
- Fine Meals
- Vegetarian Fine Meals
- Carnivore Fine Meals
- Lavish Meals
- Vegetarian Lavish Meals
- Carnivore Lavish Meals
- Survival Meals
- Pemmican

Supports Vanilla Fishing Expanded and support for Vanilla Plants Expanded is in progress.

My display graphics that showed all the meals got too big for Steam, so I've made them available in a Drive[drive.google.com] in case you want to look through prior to subscribing.

Ingredient Searching

This is the order in which a texture is selected.

1. Ingredients - if a texture has one or more of the meal's ingredients, it'll select from that subset
2. Vegetarian or carnivore (mostly for the survival meals)
3. Random texture

Options

The following options are available:

1. Enable fully random textures (disable the ingredient searches)
2. An experimental "strict" mode that filters to textures that contain all the ingredients in a meal (not recommended, there's a lot of combinations that won't have matches)
3. A default fallback texture for when ingredient searching fails to find anything (disables the randomized fallback)

Want to create your own variety meals?
The class that makes this all work is available for use!

Supporting Mods

These mods contain additional food replacements that aren't present in this mod. You can pick and choose how many replacements you want in your game this way.

Food Texture Variety Collection

Supports Flavor Text!

Searches for an exact match on the new label (ex: plum preserves) and then searches for a more generic version based on the FlavorDef.

No ingredient searching is done when Flavor Text is enabled. It was giving me some confusing results during testing.

Compatibility

This mod is safe to add to games, provided you don't already have mods that patch the graphics class for meals.

This mod is safe to remove!

Issues

If there's an issue just follow standard bug reporting procedures. Send me a log and a description of what was going on when the error happened.

Tell me if you're using Flavor Text, as it changes the code that's being used.

The more information you can give me, the more likely I'll be able to figure out how to recreate it and fix it. If I can't do that... then you're stuck with the bug, sorry. Help me help you.

Future Plans

More meals!

May I vanilla-ify the textures based on the ones you designed? I really like the style of the textures you created.:steamhappy:

@Senilia - There's a Food Texture Variety Core that lets people create their own version with their own textures.

The mod is great, but it would be even better if the textures were more Vanilla-style, similar to those in the World Food mod.

@EnderMelody - I have done clothes! It turned out to be super easy as I found something already in the code that allowed me to randomize the textures. I haven't done nearly as many though, as it just takes a lot longer to make clothing. And as for weapons, I just don't have any personal interest in making weapon textures. Sorry.

have you considered doing this for other vanilla items such as weapons or clothes?

Thank you for this! Rimmies always eating the same low-res cubes was one of my biggest peeves so I'm so happy this exists

hm, I just did that, even went as far as doing a full reinstall of the game, deleted all the workshop files as well as the LocalLow files, started the game that was just the DLCs and FTV, and it it get's to the "Initializing..." stage, plays the menu music, but doesn't actually load the menu. turn off Food Texture Variety - Replacement, and the game loads fine, even tried the non replacement version and it still doesn't like it
