Torpedo turtle

Description
Description + Instructions
A powerful full vanilla attack submarine that carries cannons and 3 types of torpedoes/missiles:
  • 2x straight line torpedoes with a bomb that explodes after a set amount of time, can be used for proximity detonations easily
  • 4x quick rocket + grenade missiles that can be launched one by one as well, at two different ranges (R short range, F long range keybinds)
  • 1x tracking torpedo with a harpoon and a bomb that pulls itself towards the target then detonates
It swims around like a turtle with 3 axis control, piloted like a plane.

The front glass cover opens and closes automatically when firing torpedoes, but it can also be closed/opened manually with ALT. The machine does not allow you to self destruct by launching anything while it's closed.

Torpedoes will launch quicker if you already have the cover opened, yaw and pitch movement is locked (for 0.8s) while launching rocket missiles so you don't self detonate, you regain movement while firing them if you already emptied the 2x bomb torpedoes.

Steps to using the tracking torpedo:
  • lift front cover manually (ALT)
  • optional: use either front camera (3 - normal; 4 zoomed) to aim easier and see if the harpoon attached or not
  • shoot harpoon (Z)
  • if it attached to target, launch the torpedo (C)
  • if it didn't, then retract (X) the harpoon and repeat
Uses 387 pieces, out of which 80+ are logic blocks.

Keybinds
  • forwards/backwards: SHIFT/CTRL
  • (pitch) dive up/down: W/S
  • yaw turn left/right: A/D
  • roll left/right: Q/E

  • lift front glass cover (toggle): ALT

  • launch left/right torpedo: 1/2

  • launch rocket missiles one by one: V
  • launch all of them at once (short): R
  • launch all of them at once (long): F

  • shoot harpoon: Z
  • retract harpoon: X
  • launch harpoon torpedo: C

  • shoot both cannons (hold with infinite ammo): left click

  • front camera: 3
  • front camera zoomed in: 4
  • top camera: 0;5
Keybinds are also listed in game.

Extra info/tips

By default, the left side torpedo has a quicker detonation, while the right side one has a more delayed one, you can set them to be whatever by changing the flight duration value of the rockets inside them.

You can technically fly and infinite distance in any direction like a plane, but it's not optimized to be used as one, and you may explode if you skydive into the ocean while doing it, make sure you land on the front.

Yaw is mostly controlled by unsymmetrically powering the engines, pitch mainly by reaction wheels, and roll dominantly by the flaps/wings.

The machine has 3 axis reaction wheels, but currently does not yaw turn in one place, you can make it do that by just changing logic blocks if you want to.

The machine can't really roll while going backwards, and has slower yaw turn (would otherwise explode).

You can land torpedoes easily if you swim close to the target, launch, then instantly swim backwards to avoid the explosion (CTRl), especially with the short range rocket fire mode (R).

The machine is much easier to use with a lower timescale if you haven't learned to control it yet/your game is lagging, but it's optimized to be controllable at up to 100% time scale.
