Context
This mod adds several new origins to the game, as well as some complimentary Civics, Traditions, and Event Chains. The crown jewel of this mod is the Current Turmoil origin, originally known as the Shattered Origin.

The Current Turmoil Origin currently adds several event chains that take place in the early game, and also towards the later game (around year 2350). This mod explores the Glacorian Universe and tells its stories as accurately as possible through Stellaris in a way that can be enjoyed by all of you. We have tried to keep it as faithful to the original story as possible, within the limitations of Stellaris.

For this reason, it should be noted that a lot of Vanilla content, such as Archeology, Astral Rifts, Paragons, Leviathans, and Precursors don't spawn with this mod active. Fear not! As this mod continues to be developed, we are looking forward to replacing these features with canon alternatives.

Description

Origins:
- Current Turmoil (Main story)
- The Institute (Secondary story, in progress)
- Barbare Godhood (Secondary story, in progress)
- Genetic Convocation (Secondary story, experimental)

Main Story
"This empire entered the space age before it had fully unified. It is split into several uncooperative factions occupying it's closest systems, and must fight for unity of the unaligned colonies before it can properly step into the galaxy."

This Origin will cause you to have a custom Sol home system with 4 independent factions occupying several planets and moons. It will also spawn 6 Independent and feuding empires in the various custom systems surrounding your capital. All pops will be your native pops that you design upon the creation of your empire, and do not have to be Human.

When you start up the game you will be instantly granted communications with all of these empires (this will create a small popup for the 6 independent empires).

FTL Overhaul

The way Vanilla Stellaris impliments fully accessible FTL at year 2200 doesn't strictly follow the timeline of FTL technology in the Glacorian Shogunate story. To bring the gameplay more in line with the theme of the struggle to survive, we have implemented some significant changes to the base game.

Firstly, Hyperdrives are not accessible at game start, and the tech usually doesn't show up until around Year 2350. Instead, we follow a new tech tree that starts with Hypergates, a miniaturised Quantum Catapult, then we progress to Gateways as seen in vanilla, then Hyper Relays to join adjacent systems, and then to true Hyperdrives. However, keep in mind that Hyperdrives are very expensive and difficult to field enormous fleets. Plan carefully.

In order to implement these changes, we have had to make some compromises. The player can now customise (and has to pay for) their Science, Construction, Colony, and Transport vessels. This is to ensure that your Science Vessels don't skip the 500 alloy upgrade fee for Hyperdrives.

Acknowledging that being softlocked in your capital system for the first 30 years of the game may be tedious and boring to some players, we have added several new Decisions that can be enacted on, and represent consolidation of your homeworld. Furthermore, we have also added Decisions to your extraterrestrial colonies that represent a bridging of the many-lightyears gap between your planets.

Because of these dramatic changes, the AI simply can't handle interstellar travel, and will likely spend 30 years trying to get to the next system. It is heavily recommended that you use this mod in Multiplayer Sessions only. Likewise, path-finding can be a little bugged at times, make sure that you order your fleets to use the utilities available to you.

If you would like to play with only these changes to FTL, and none of the rest of the Overhaul, please take a look at the Realistic FTL Standalone mod (that mod is included in this one, so you don't need both in your playset):

Misc

If you would like to know more about the current version, have a look at the change notes :)

This mod is in development, although the main story is at a point that we feel comfortable calling "Version 1.0", and will have many tweaks and changes made over the course of its development.

This version of the mod overhauls the way FTL functions in the game, as a consequence the AI is unable to function properly and expand. This mod is recommended for multiplayer use only, but if you would like to experience the story with full implimentation of AI empires and Vanilla FTL, you can do so in the Vanilla FTL version of this mod:

@Andromeda, as you play the mod you will learn more about the Glacorian Shogunate Universe and the various entities in it. You can also find some lore, such as naming conventions, in certain NAMELISTS and Localisation files within the mod. For example, we added comments in the Lideran NAMELIST regarding certain geography, naming conventions, and so on for The Institute. ;-)
