Description
INTRODUCTION
This mod is a faction visual overhaul where wood elf infantry, monsters, and mounts have been adjusted to appear better armored with more variance.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Wood elves have a much more armored and camouflaged appearance displaying their harmony and protection of Athel Loren.
  • Zoats, stags, eagles, and dragons have more variation and/or armored appearance.
  • Wood elf faction colors are universally green and utilize small ribbon trinkets to represent specific wood elf faction colors. Gone are the days of highlighter neon green armies.
  • Custom hero/lord variants with associated portholes and 4K roster unit cards.
  • Spellsinger/Spellweaver units adjusted to not have troll doll hair appearance.
  • Unique glowing eyes for Regiments of Renown.
  • Longer spears with greater weapon variation.
  • Wildwood Rangers have animations adjusted to utilize the Swordmasters of Hoeth animation set which is better suited for their weapon set.
  • Corrected dragon mount seated position to not clip half of the body into the saddle.

COMPATIBILITY
Manually put this at the top of your load order if experiencing issues.

This is simply a reskin for most of the vanilla wood elf roster. Should be compatible with just about anything except other obvious wood elf reskins.

I recommend to be used in conjunction with GunKing's Wargrove of Woe for an entire wood elf roster overhaul.

PERFORMANCE
I play with this mod personally and do not experience performance issues, however, this mod adds an incredible amount of detail along with removing low-poly models that are used when zoomed out. If you are playing with doubled unit counts, or 40+ unit battles, then it is a reasonable assumption that there will be a performance hit. As a result, I have proactively created 2 optional sub mods that should help. Only one is needed.

I reached out to the following authors to incorporate their assets into this mod, but I did not hear a response. As a result, I will remove assets upon request, however, I sincerely hope they do not mind. Their work is both greatly appreciated and recommended.

Colourless' Wood Elves HD Texture Pack - ColourlessAmoeba
HD textures used as baseline for custom texture colors

Mixu's Shadowdancer - Mixu
Adjusted the body of the shadowdancer to have more foliage consistent with the rest of the roster in this visual overhaul. This mod also applies the universal green colors to his faction unlocker.

ISSUES
Wood elf firing animations appear to have been adjusted in patch 5.1, however, they are still messed up as the wrong bow is often shown during the firing animation. As a result, this mod normalizes most wood elf bow firing animations to the glade lord bow. Fixing animation sets would require substantial compatibility efforts. Please let me know if CA corrects these issues so that I can update as required.

Because this mod incorporates many other users' work, please reach out to me on discord for permission to incorporate any/all assets into your mod so that I may refer you to the correct author if applicable.

My personal headcannon is that the more elite units have retrieved and survived in deeper more dangerous portions of Athel Lorens forest. The glad guard and eternal guard would not travel very far from woodelven cities and as a resultant don't appear as "rugged".

But as they get more and more elite, they take a more attuned appearance with the forest. It's also the limited assets that I have to work with on the woodelves as a whole. I struggled with differentiating elite units in general because 50% of the wood elf assets are naked.

But I am glad you are enjoying it! As stated previously in the comments, you are absolutely welcome to publish a submod to return the default portraits.

Has to be one of the best mods I've ever subscribed to. Seamlessly fits in, no conflicts I've ever run into, and is lore accurate and makes you really feel the faction. It's honestly a marked improvement over CA's version which all gives them boxers and nothing else.

The only minor complaint I have is that the Tier 1 units, Eternal Guard, Glade Guard/Riders all sorta feel sorta out of place with the rest of the roster, because they're clad in elven plate metal while the rest of the unit roster is clad in shrubbery. Doesn't detract from the quality of the mod of course.

One note however, the portraits are genuinely impossible to tell apart when playing with them. I could release a submod that restores the default card portraits, with your permission of course?

The Zoat and Dragon reskins came as an update to the mod and were not included in the original. When mods are updated, steam sometimes doesn't do a good job of reloading the file.

the unsubscribe trick worked, everything is loading now.

the workshop on steam is kinda buggy when it comes to loading certain skin mods i guess

I just loaded up the mod as it's currently uploaded to steam and all units appear as expected. It is either a mod conflict, or an outdated mod on your end.

I recommend unsubscribing and resubscribing to force a redownload of the mod and manually pushing this to the top of your load order.

The Zoats and Dragons are not loading the skins in the screenshots, this mod probably needs a update to whatever the newest game version is

I'm a bit frustrated because the wild riders kinda look generic, but everything else is perfect in my opinion, i guess everyona already told you that your work is great, but gg you're a man of taste
