Description
How Whiskey is Produced /////CHAPTER 1 /////

Whisky production consists of 5 basic stages.

Malting
Poultice
Fermentation (Brewing)
Distillation
Maturation
While these steps may vary slightly by country, region, geography or distillery, basically all distilleries follow these steps.
steps are applied in the same order and logic.

Before going through the production stages one by one, I would like to briefly summarize what is needed for whisky production.

The basis of whisky production is water, grain and yeast.
The choice of grain varies depending on the country, region or distillery. For example, barley is used as the main grain in Scotland, corn and/or rye in America, and barley and wheat in Ireland. In addition, rice and oats are also used in whiskey production in various countries.
Water is one of the most important components of whiskey. In fact, considering that a large part of whiskey is water, it would not be an exaggeration to say that it is the most important. The water used in whisky production has a direct impact on the quality of the whisky.

We can show Scotland as an example. Scotland is one of the world's leading countries in terms of water resources. The use of soft and high quality spring water filtered from granite rocks in the mountains in whisky production in Scotland is one of the most important reasons for the quality of Scottish whiskies.
Finally, the use of yeast. Yeast, which reacts with the sugar in grains to produce alcohol, is also used in whisky production.
