Description
SV Class 1, Core 1, Unlock Level 10 - Reforged Eden 2 Only

Primary roles: Starter SV Miner, Upgradeable

The Scarab-Starter Miner 1-RE2 is a 4 drill core 1 SV starter miner. It was tested a fair amount in game play as well as tweaked a few times from the original test version. It has a focus on tunnel mining having all drills to the outer edges of the build as well as a 4 spotlight set up to see well in dark mining tunnels. It also comes with a gatling gun.

Stock Features

The SM1 comes with 6500 Harvest storage, 500 ammo storage, Gatling gun, o2 and dispenser, armor locker, constructor, detector, WiFi, 4 spot lights (P menu option), and a cargo box. It also has a upgrade path to bring it to a core 3 with more options.

Upgrade optons

The Scarab-SM1 has locations to add 2 basic CPU cores, SV shield, Pentaxid tank, 2 additional generators, and a trauma station (Trauma station can be added without additional CPU however being 14 points over), and 3x3 turret (top)

Offense and defense

The hull is built with steel and cargo extensions. The interior is also built with mainly cargo extensions and parts. It comes stock with 1 gatling gun and 500 ammo storage. It can be upgraded to have a shield, pentaxid tank, and has a location to add 1 turret.

Features Summary:

1. SV Class 1, Core 1 RE2 , Unlock 10 - Reforged Eden 2 only
2. Steel and cargo extension hull and interior
3. 6500 Harvest storage, 500 ammo storage
4. WiFi, detector, armor locker, O2 and dispenser
5. Part placement info LCD (p menu control)
6. Constructor
7. 1 cargo box, 4 spotlights (p menu control)
8. Locations to add 2 basic CPU cores, Pentaxid tank, shield, trauma station, and turret
9. Locations to add additional generators

I hope you enjoy!

Notes: The Scarab-SM1 was built to be an agile low cost core 1 miner with a focus on mining in tunnels. It can maintain max speed forward with a full harvest load. The drills are placed at the outer edges with a short hull for easy maneuvering in a mining tunnel. Also it has 4 spotlights, top, bottom, left, and right to fully light up a mining tunnel in the dark. At this point it is pretty well tested for RE2 game play.

One last thing to mention, I purposely did not use a ramp on the back as they have been experiencing issues closing when you are trying walk up them.

@Wireless_Einstein: Add the CPU extenders into the cavity behind/next to the Armor Locker, put a Pentaxid tank into the cavity on the floor, replace to top small generator with the1x2x1 (same as the one in the middle) as well as add a third one to the space below the existing 1x2x1 generator. Then just put the shield generator in the open area in front of all this stuff, effectively blocking it all in. You just don't want to install the shields until all the open cavities are filled. Hope this helps, and if anyone believes my interpretation is wrong, please correct me.

I am probably confused but where do you put the shield? it looks like it supposed to go in the same spot as the generators. Or do i have to move the generators to a different location?

Kool build. I watched you tweak and retweet. Now a final build, that's just right. I didnt have to use the proto type. You worked out the snags and now a great starter miner that upgrades. What you lack in Game playing focus, You master in Game designs. :)

Thank you daledude22 and Palladin888! @Palladin888, I have been having issues with that too. I really want to be able to select which direction a player gets out of a set. And thanks again all!

Performs great when mining but it horrible for getting in and out.
I tore out the innards put in a shield and a jumpdrive and added a cockpit. Now it is perfect.

Forgot to mention that I first used your Scarab-SCM 3-drill miner which served me very well. I used it to dig myself a nice tunnel that starts a ways off from the base so that I could keep all but one of my ships underground and also safe entry back into the base because once I came back and there were 10 drones above my underground base and ended up with my sv blown to hell while it was parked on the ground like 150 meters away after I parked it and ran towards the base. That little miner was/is a fantastic 1st ship.

Thanks Jeff, appreciate the response and new understanding of pentaxid tank/shield connection. Always looking forward to your new well thought out ship creations and YT workshop videos - and your recent RE2 play through vids. I chose a jump miner for my current RE2 run, but had to modify it a bit to keep it from getting stuck, plus it has a lot of pricey stuff exposed than can be easily hit by enemy fire, but hopefully I can keep it mostly out of the line of fire.

Thank you Hotair and daledude22! @daledude22, the miner was never meant to warp. The pentaxid tank location was for a shield. However in game play I really wanted to warp a couple times, so I basically floated a warp drive to the creation so I could do a couple warps and then removed it again. The problem with a warp drive is it is too big to fit in a creation this small and also have an interior space. I would like to do a warp low tier miner at some point too but I think I would need to have it with a prefab cockpit and no interior space or it would have to be a larger miner which likely will have more issues maneuvering in mining tunnels. So, yes, did do the R&R thing in game play and it did work but certainly looks silly. lol. And thanks again all!

Great little miner. Probably a dumb question, but you have space for a pentaxid tank, but not for the jump drive. Do you just R&R the jump drive before & after jumping?

Can always rely on jrandall for a top tier ship design with plenty of storage and a low cost to build. Favorited creator for a reason <3
