SCAVENGER - A Custom Half Life Alyx Campaign

Description
Within the Null-Sector of City-24 lies an unknown vortigaunt Capture operation consisting of numerous Combine forces. These operations have helped fuel local Combine Sub-Citadels by draining captives of their vortal powers with torturous machinery. You as a lone scavenger have set it upon yourself to break into these power-banks held within abandoned and infested structures and shut them down.

However, the road ahead lies several infested areas filled with all sorts of dangers that you will have to eliminate. The Combine have set up fortifications and blockades on the streets to control movement of the growing Antlion outbreak. The path ahead will not be easy, major infestations and Combine soldiers will hunt you down.

This is my first Half-Life Alyx map so I hope you guys all enjoy! Due to my PC's limitations I can't compile the map the way I want, so I have to settle with some of the strange lighting that the map may have in it's current state.

Hopefully you all enjoy the gameplay, feel free to let me know what you think the comments whilst I work on maps that I will post in the future!

Thank you Lambdarokh.

This is is an excellent and clearly underrated mod. Very fun to play, interesting and kept me engaged the entire length.

Also please change the map title and indicate that it is over an hour as Dobryi suggested. SCAVENGER seems good on its own.

Aside from that, loved it so much! Especially the detail in the dilapidated building. Here's my playthru on Merciless Hard: https://youtu.be/f8eQNd45y3g

Amazing experience throughout, and I echo the previous positive comments. I would have scored this as a 10/10 on my list but there are a few issues I'd like to see mitigated or resolved first.

1. Performance suffers at numerous locations in the map, but for a very short time. Feels like some transition issue but I'm no expert. I mention each part in my video.

2. The button on the Vortigaunt can be pressed multiple times spawning multiple waves.

3. There really needs to be an autosave before that same battle; I died and had to go back quite a bit.

4. The red keycard has to be reused twice. I recommend stashing a separate keycard as most people toss them after using once since they take up a wrist slot.

This is a very thorough job, the special piquancy is that the way out can be found in a long or short way. Definitely more than 20 minutes long, it took me more than an hour. Does the ending mean a sequel?:steamhappy:

@razolis now I've seen λrokh video (nice work λrokh) I can say that your assumption was a tad off... I was stuck at the spot ~11 minutes into their play-through and shows me the way forward. Regarding the key cards and their use - I ditch cards after I open the first relevant door - but here is showed λrokh stashing them and using one twice... I didn't need that as a sloped cupboard and another object allowed me to get up to the next level instead. . Nice work - and you might want to update the description as this looks way longer than "short <20 minutes" now its in full release.

Awesome map, the hard work really shows. I proceed through destroyed, dilapidated and Xen-infested buildings while scavenging for ammo and resin, on my way to the trapped vorts.
But I especially like the Combine encounters. Fights are a challenge and much fun.
Also the scripted sequences such as the vort and the scanner increase immersion and bring life into it. They contribute to the whole story.
Was a bit trigger happy and had some amazing ammo sparsity at the end that forced me to get creative.

Ok, so maybe the reason I cannot progress is because you're still working on this map? I just crossed the metal ramp to the next building and turned off all the lasers, even the ones that went on after I made the electrical connections. However, the doorway down the hall still has a forcefield. Cannot figure out how to turn that off. Nice job on this map. Unique with all the building destruction. I was happy not to have to deal with anyone above me, though that would have been challenging! Keep it up! ;)

@swaibaa Every card that you find is important to progress, for the hotel which I’m assuming is the one you’re talking about, you have to go up the stairs, go into a room and deactivate the forcefield on the stairs

Enjoying so far, have got through the building and completed the first combine fight... however I'm completely stuck where to go after this... cannot go back into the inital building as it now with force field...

@Frank I'm not 100% which card is the blue one... if its to the "staff room" maybe there is another way "up" in the building without going through there? As above I've gone through the building and am pretty sure I didn't need all the cards...
