[AV] Tribal Mechlink

Description
This mod adds a new mechlink harvestable from fully grown anima trees.

This is NOT a retexture.

The anima mechlink is way weaker compared to the vanilla mechlink:
  • reduced bandwidth
  • reduced control groups
  • reduced mech repair speed
  • severely reduced mech gestation speed
  • reduced command range (when activated in [AV]Framework's settings)
  • can be self-installed like a normal mechlink
  • can not be reclaimed from dead pawns
  • can be removed (and also destroyed) with an operation using 2 glitterworld medicine
  • additional mechlink implants can't be installed by a mechanitor with an anima mechlink
  • apparel adding mechanitor stat (bandwidth, control groups etc.) will work

How do mechlinks and anima trees fit together?
The anima tree has a psychic presence and mechanoids have a psychic presence, while mechlinks require the mechanitor to not be psychicly dull.
Thats enough for me to connect the 3 of them.
The anima tree also gives a mood downside for chopping it while beeing a consistent but not overusable way of getting mechlinks, so it fit perfectly for me.

How do I get mechs and maintain/recharge them as a tribe?
I've made mods for that as well.
[AV] Mechanoid Orbital Traders contains ways to get mechs as a tribe.
Don't get confused by the name, it evolved into acquiring mechs in general.
[AV] Sparkling Jade contains early ways to recharge mechs.

Does this come with a tribal way to charge them or does anyone know a good mod that does that?

Well, per ingame description the anima tree has a psychic presence and mechanoids have a psychic presence as they are not mere robots (according to mechlinks).
Also the mechanitor needs to be not psychicly dull, thats enough for me to connect the 3 of them.
The anima tree also gives a mood downside for chopping it while beeing a consistent but not overusable way of getting mechlinks, so it fit perfectly for me.
Although if you have a better/other ideas, I'm all ears :)
(I'm only speaking of tribal ways here, but craftable industial and rare archotech mechlinks will come too)

You can already use this mod without Royalty, although there is no way to obtain the mechlink without the Royalty DLC (besides spawning it with DEV-mode).
I don't really feel like making your idea a proper thing with its own fitting textures, but if you still want it, you can easily change it yourself:
Just go to the modfolder under "1.5/Patches/RoyaltyPatches.xml" and change "Plant_TreeAnima" into "Plant_TreeGauranlen" (4 times).
You might also want to change <onlyFullyGrown>true</onlyFullyGrown> into <onlyFullyGrown>false</onlyFullyGrown> as gauralen trees don't show their growth process.

I dont have Royalty, could you please make it so that the mechlink drops from the orange ideology tree and does not require Royality to Install?:tribble:

tribal mechanoids would be SO cool!

Personally I like the idea but not the execution, it is kind of odd to link it to anima when psychics are not really connected to the mech tech area, maybe consider another angle though I do suppose that would be alot of work and effort and the mechlink looks nice, I like the minor benefits compared to a normal mech link though, just my thoughts

Following up on your below comment - If I may say, creating anima wood golems powered by stone gears/cogs/components would be a nice low-tech tribal mech solution, if you ever do take up the idea of tribal mechs. Fits a nice middle ground of having a semi-concrete explanation for why they work while being suitably low-tech. I'd say just normal wood and stone gears normally, but tying it to anima trees keeps it a little more rare, and sacred feeling which befits a tribe.
