This mod enables Cathay's Formation Attack and Bretonnia's Lance Formation for more units across multiple factions.
It's made to be used by both Vanilla and SFO enjoyers, means all Vanilla units and custom units added by the SFO mod are covered. No stats are changed. The stats of the Lance formation for cavalry purely depend from whether you use SFO, Vanilla or any other mod to edit them. No further compatibility patches required.

No custom formation types were added. Two reasons for that:

1) Maximum compatibility, see above.
2) The AI. It can only really handle formations that are already in the game. There are some great mods out there that add a lot of cool custom formations with a different toggle. However, this bears the inherent problems that said formations are very buggy and/or aren't used by the AI because it simply doesn't recognize what the formations do and when to use them. Which then again results in a one-sided advantage for the player.

Formations are applied by the following logic, inspired by Rome II (and mods like DeI):

Lance Formation for Cavalry:

Horse-based heavy cavalry, usually the classic knight units. That's it, wielding a lance is not required.

Formation Attack for Infantry: The Graeco-Roman approach.

The infantry unit (low to high tier) belongs to a "civilized" faction which has a standardized military branch and wields either a spear or a shield. It's more meant to hold a line rather than skirmish or push through it and win the battle for you. Examples are Empire Swordsmen, TK Skeleton Spearmen, Elf Spearmen etc.

Formation Attack for Infantry: The Celto-Germanic approach.

The infantry unit (high tier) belongs to a powerful military/warrior elite, wields either a spear or a shield and is there to guard your general or simply be the bulwark that's meant to rout the enemy offence and work themselves through it when things are serious. This includes for example Stormvermin, Chaos Warriors and Grave Guards.
This is very much an aesthetic choice right here. Formation Attack for infantry rarely has any greater impact, but if you want the units to go into the offensive and deal as much damage as possible, consider turning Formation Attack off when issuing attack orders.

Some deviations exist to fit certain factions. Not everything can follow to 100% the rules mentioned above.

Oh well. I'm using a mod manager that also allows me uploading mods to the Workshop. I just tested and saw that when using the default method, Steam will not update it but recognize it as a separate mod, although it's one and the same file. There's obviously a grave issue here.

In other words, I'll re-upload both my recent mods the default way tomorrow so you guys can use them as well. Anyways, thanks for reporting.

yea same problem here it dosn't show up. Tested resubscribing and removing it but i have the same amout of mods in my list thro it all so it's not just the wrong name. I do not use a external mod-mananger if that might be important

Does it maybe appear under the file name "!infcav_formations_sfo" instead of the mod description title?

for some reason, the mod is not visible in the mod-manager

You mean that one overhaul which gives every faction 20 new infantry and cavalry units as variations and subvariations of already existing vanilla units? I have not tested it, but maybe this mod already covers a lot of these units, depending from how Radious applies attribute groups to them. Other than that, I place support for other mods like Southern Realms or the OvN factions mods higher in priority for now.

Any chance to get a submod for Radious?

PS. I have noticed that my mod also adds Formation Attack to several appropriate infantry units from the Southern Realms mod and Dread King Legion mod due to the way how these mods apply attributes to their units.

When I have the time, I'll add more so that these custom factions (and more) will be completely covered as well, again for both SFO and Vanilla players.
