Grumman TBF-3D Avenger RNZAF

The Avenger was the heaviest single-engined aircraft of World War II, and only the USAAF's P-47 Thunderbolt came close to equalling it in maximum loaded weight among all single-engined fighters, being only some 400 lb (181 kg) lighter than the TBM, by the end of World War II. To ease carrier storage concerns, simultaneously with the F4F-4 model of its Wildcat carrier fighter, Grumman designed the Avenger to also use the new Sto-Wing patented "compound angle" wing-folding mechanism, intended to maximize storage space on an aircraft carrier; the Wildcat's replacement the F6F Hellcat also employed this mechanism. The engine used was the powerful, twin-row Wright R-2600-20 Twin Cyclone fourteen-cylinder radial engine, which produced 1,900 hp/1,417 kW.

The TBM-3D varient was equipped with a wing mounted radar and screen for advanced ASW capability

Based on the Grumman avenger by Kevinu984, This TBF is in the livery of the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) as a token of thanks to Vman Htown and to supplement his outstanding Short Sunderland.

*A realistic ammo counter. If you are using unlimited ammo, you are restricted to 1,200 rounds in the wing guns.
*Working bombsite for the rear gunner with the ability to transfer control over to.


1. Turn on battery
2. Unfold wings
3. Turn on fuel
4. Press the starter button
5. Adjust pitch manually.

Gyro must be on to activate the alt hold.

Please note that in low physics when you fold the wings you may need to cycle the switch or give them a little nudge for them to fold.

1.Open the bomb bay doors.
2. Lower your speed to 115-120 knots and drop below 100 feet(50 is ideal).
3. Remember to lead your target.
4. Press space bar to launch.

If you have a bombardier, first transfer drop control over to the bombardier and open the bomb bay door. You must communicate with the pilot on aiming and then press the button to drop the torpedo. there is an interlock that prevents the torpedo from releasing if the bomb bay doors are not open.


You have an two ammo counters for your wing mounted guns. One is for limited and the other is for infinite ammo. With infinite ammo you are limited to 1,200 rounds (600 per wing) and you will have to "rearm" on the ground by landing and pressing the rearm button in the bomb bay.

If you wish to rearm the torpedo without respawning you will need the reload Mark 13 and the Ford N aircraft tug to do it.
