Second Cuban Missile Crisis 2025

Description
From the creator of Kashmir Fire comes a hypotheical scenario between the United States and a continued Soviet Union off the East Coast of the United States. I hope you enjoy!

NOTE: This is designed to be not entirely realistic as it assumed a 30 year continuation of the Cold War. It is supposed to be a fun and challenging Time on Target planning scenario. I hope you enjoy. Please leave any constructive feedback, I always appreciate it.

Scenario Description:

Following the assasination of Gorbachev in 1987, a hardline Soviet government institued a sever crackdown on all policies of openness and withdrew from all ballistic missile and nuclear treaties. Tensions remained high between the United States and Soviet Union well into the early 2020's with neither side backing down.

In August of 2025, the federal building in Key West was attacked with Sarin gas, leaving 19 Americans dead. Upon investigation it was discovered that a Cuban agent likely conducted the attack with help from the Soviet Union. American military forces postured in preperation for a retaliatory attack, but the prescence of a Soviet frigate in Havana Harbor presented an obstacle for an all out air attack. The Soviet Premier stated "an attack on Cuba is an attack on all Soviet people, we will defend our comrades whatever the cost."

In the few weeks following, Soviet military forces started to sortie into the Atlantic Ocean and conduct exercises globally. Several Ukranian flagged RORO ships were seen docking in Havana, and short and medium range ballistic missiles and SAMs were seen on sattelite imagery within hours. The Soviets ensured the Americans that the missiles were purely defensive in nature and "only armed with sophisticated conventional warheads".

American intelligence indicates that in fact there are no nuclear warheads on the island, but that fact makes it more likely that the Soviets and Cubans would be willing to launch a conventional ballistic missile attack on the southeastern United States.

Four days ago, two massive Soviet surface fleets, one led by the modern carrier Ulyavnosk, the other a primarily amphibious force led by the Admiral Kuznetsov, departed for the Carribean. The United States has issued a warning that if any Soviet surface combatant not already present in the Caribbean AO crosses the line from San Juan to Washington D.C. it will be treated as an act of hostility towards America. The official Soviet response was "we will conduct freedom of navigation through international waters as we please, and any attempts to interfere will be classified as an act of war".

Very enjoyable, wasn't totally sure when to respond as some of the smaller ships cross the line earlier. Initial strikes quickly overwhelmed the naval task groups.

Looks awesome, I'm re-installing CMO to play it, I'll be sure to give feedback.
