Crossbow ViewModel Glow

Description
Description:
A very simple addon that restores the glow effect of the crossbow's view model. Compared to its Half-Life 2 counterpart, the glow from this addon is brighter and more noticeable.

Addon compatibility:
This mod supports custom view models, provided that the attachments are correctly setup by the author. The visual effect may break when gamemodes or addons alter the default view model rendering, like by blocking 'GM:PostDrawViewModel()' hook calls, for example.

Half Life 2: Episode Two crossbow glow:
If you find the default glow effect too over the top for your liking, the more subtle version from HL2 has been ported over and can be accessed by setting the 'crossbow_vm_glow_hl2mode' ConVar to 1. To go back to the default glow, simply set the same ConVar back to 0. Note: for performance reasons, changes to this option will only apply on map load, as this option is more of a 'set it and forget it' kinda deal.

Enjoy!

I have managed to completely avoid using a crossbow ever since I installed this addon

Wait, the difference with Half-Life 2 is simply that GMod's crowbar plays the flesh-hit sound instead of the melee swing-miss sound when hitting something. I can work with that.

Since I too find this behaviour annoying and rather prefer the way it works in Half-Life 2, I'll whip out a mini-addon next week

It is needed else-where, such as when hitting anything fleshy. (Zombies, people, etc)

Is that hit sound used/needed elsewhere? If not, then it should be possible to override it with an empty sound and fix your issue. Such a hacky way I believe is necessary, since editing the crowbar entity itself is not easy if at all possible (engine entities are like locked boxes from a lua script's point of view)

Do you think you could find a way to fix how the crowbar plays a basic hit-sound alongside the material hit? This is a HL2DM behaviour, and thus grahhh grahh

When I first started playing hl2, I legit thought the bolt was just painted orange or something, and not glowing from intense heat. So this mod is nice.

The crossbow rod always reminded me of nacho cheese or some shit lol.
