I really like both, and cyborgs aren't fully mechanical so they should still be able to awaken.
"UI Overhaul Dynamic - More Tradition Categories" Is not increasing this variable so you'd need to change it by yourself, don't know about other mods.

which mean I would have to check mods one by one to find out ...
I figured out the issue and it was a mod conflict with an older mod that gave multiple tradition tree's and ascension slots. Using more recent ones built for the later versions and it's working as expected now.
Machine main species =/= synthetic ascended normal species. U need to start as a machine empire to access that ascension.
