Ever got tired of creating bills to smelt and destroy useless junk left from last cannibal raid? Not anymore. Just select all items you want to get rid of and pawns will do it.

This mod allows you to recycle and destroy weapons and apparel through order icons, without creating annoying bills. It uses all vanilla values to calculate refund (around 25% of recipe) and job speed to make almost identical to vanilla bills (Smelt or burn weapons/apparel).
Basically it adds 2 orders to menu and affected items:
  1. Destroy item - selected weapons or apparel will be destroyed on closest campfire or smelter (including modded ones).
  2. Recycle item - selected weapons or apparel will be either smelted or scrapped at the closest workbench yielding part of it's recipe resources back.
Post raid cleaning has never been this easy!

New job (can be seen with Fluffy's Work Tab) assosiated with added features exist in Crafting worktype right behind all vanilla jobs.

Troubleshooting

There are 2 ways items get recycled:
  1. For metal items, you must have a building that has "smelt weapons" bill and it must be either powered or fueled.
  2. Everything else, like clothes, stone or wooden weapons get scrapped on tailor benches or crafting spots.
In order to destroy things you need any building that has "burn apparel" bill (ex: campfire, cremator) and it also must be powered, fueled or whatever else workbench uses.

Unless these conditions are fully met - items won't get recycled or destroyed.

Bugs and suggestions
If you encounter any errors related to this mod or notice bugs, please post bug reports in bug reports section. Also feel free to post any suggestions in comments on how to make this mod better.

Compatibility
  • Should be compatible with any modded workbenches, as long as they have recipe to burn apparel (for campfires) and smelt weapons (for smelters).
  • Other mods that add recycle bills are compatible with this mod as well.

@Krell356 The scrapping bill was removed since it did not work in 1.5 and would have required an override of the smelting products code. There are better mods for automating recycle bills.

So I have been using this mod for the scrapping bills, but I just installed ideology and now i can only recycle by manually recycling each item. Is there a reason that the bill scrapping method doesn't work with ideology?

Did someone managed to find or make a mod that let fabricor do recycling jobs? Since it's impossible to recycle by bill anymore, fabricors end up idle while pawn recycle instead of crafting gear.

Also thanks for being on top of things! You respond real quickly!

I see thanks for letting me know. I was hoping to use this mod for automation which is the reason I got it.

@joester610 The recycle buttons are whole other work-type. The recipe was just added to the mod later on and is a generic scrapping recipe. The point of this mod was to mark specific items for recycling, there are better mods to set up recipes for automation.

In fact, I ran a test where I used the recycle bill for an item twice: Once where I didn't have the recycle button activated and once where I did. The pawn was specifically prioritizing the bill. In the case that the recycle button was activated, it yielded materials. On the other hand, when it wasn't activated, it did not. Are you sure that there isn't just some small tweak you can make to the recycle bill to make it function the same as the button?

@Mlie But that's the thing: I have seen materials get returned when I otherwise use the normal recycle button on clothing items, despite them not being smeltable. Are you saying it is impossible for modders to create a recycle mod that uses bills now, or that you just can't do that for this one?
Mlie  [auteur] 3 okt om 0:40
@joester610 I see, I was looking for a recycle bill. Anyway, Ive removed the scrap-bill now since from 1.5 the game now only allows returning of materials that in themselves are smeltable. I queried about this to the devs but they said that it was intentional.

@Mlie
It currently appears in the Hand Tailor Bench and Crafting Spot workbenches, though that is all I have unlocked in my current run. It is titled "Scrap Apparel" and its description is "Scrap apparel yielding part of it's resources back."

I am using the "Show Mod Designators" mod (ID: 2891633620) which allows me to see what mods are in use even at the end of descriptions. It shows Recycle This (Continued) as the mod which adds this feature.
