306 AD: The Age of Constantine and the Tetrarchy (1.0)

Description
The Roman Empire is divided. Following the civil wars, economic decline, disease and turmoil of the Crisis of the Third Century, the Emperor Diocletian recognised that the Empire was too vast to by effectively managed by a single Emperor. Diocletian initiated political reforms to divide the Empire into four administrative divisions, ruled over by two superior Augustus’ and two junior Caesars.

This administrative reformation of the Empire, known as the Tetrarchy has resulted in the threats from beyond the Empire’s frontiers being more effectively managed, now with the frontiers relatively secure, the Roman Empire is beginning to witness a renewed period of security, stability and prosperity.

Ruling over the Prefecture of Gaul is the newly proclaimed Augustus – Constantine. Having been proclaimed Emperor by the legions in Britannia, Constantine has ambitions to reunite the Empire and end the persecution of the adherents of the Christian faith. Having witnessed first-hand the horrific persecutions of Christians across the Empire, Constantine see’s it as his divine mission to assist the cause of the Christians across the breadth of the Roman world. Constantine has ambitions to reunite the Empire, bringing him into conflict with the other powerful players such as Maxentius, who rules over the Prefecture of Italia, Licinius who rules over the Prefecture of Illyricum and Maximinus Valerius who rules over the Prefecture of Oriens.

Once again, the Empire finds itself on the precipice of being torn apart by the competing ambitions of its rulers and generals. To consolidate his power as Augustus in the Western Roman world, Constantine will need to secure victories against the Celts in Britannia, and secure the Germanic frontiers from the Alamanni, Suebi and whichever other powers that dare to challenge the hegemony and security of the Roman Empire.

Once the frontiers of the Empire have been secured, Constantine can look to challenge the Dominion of Maxentius in Rome, from where he can march East with his legions, and reunite the Roman world under his vision of a free Christian faith.

List of changes:

- Starting positions reflect the world of 306 AD with historical accuracy
- Historically accurate characters representing the Roman factions
- Settlements have buildings to improve sanitation, economy and military recruitment
- New faction icons imported from Rome 2 to various Roman and Germanic factions
- Roman starting armies have been bolstered
- All settlements have neutral (0) public order
- Hun spawn script disabled
- Climate change script disabled
- Legacy techs have been disabled
- Greco-Roman Paganism is now the dominant religion in the empire
- Many more changes to improve game play

Final note: I'm working on various mod projects for Atilla for my 'Dark Ages' series, I have ambitions to cover important dates and periods throughout the Dark Ages via modding the TW Atilla Grand Campaign. The latter projects from AD 705 onwards will import all units from the Age of Charlemagne expansion pack and additional new units into the game.

These projects I plan to create are as followed:

- Dark Ages AD 533 - Renovatio Imperii
- Dark Ages AD 622 - Clash of Empires, Rise and Fall
- Dark Ages AD 705 - Age of Justinian II and the Byzantine-Arab Wars
- Dark Ages AD 768 - The Age of Charlemagne
- Dark Ages AD 867 - The Age of Vikings
- Dark Ages AD 976 - The Age of Basil II

Nice to see a mod with an earlier start date! I have an suggestion to make: would it be possible to implement a diplomacy option "join empire" between the roman factions. This older mod has that option: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=808567944&searchtext=tetrarchy

Karabin you should use a mod like Fall of the Eagles if you want a slower battle system. This is a campaign mod not a game mechanics mod.
