So yeah, I find that a good long piece of sharpened quality steel goes well with any outfit ;)
Well... if you want to get all history nerd about what goes with what, this one is more like early 16'th century than medieval, hence my preference for the Witcher 2 outfits to go with it. Properly high-medieval would be more like the types XIIa and XIIIa from my Arming Swords collection. (Well, it was supposed to be arming swords originally, but it has a couple of longswords like the aforementioned XIIa and XIIIa too.)
But it still goes well with any outfit anyway :p
Well, in any case, this one does have about 8 inches worth of ricasso, not the least because I wanted to use the model in NV too and the way their parry animation works in third person. The character actually grabs the ricasso, and generally the animation looks kinda like he's parrying a murder stroke.
What it doesn't have is the parrying hooks in front of the ricasso, so gauntlets may be a good idea :p
I might make a model with those parrying hooks too at some point, though, since they seem pretty popular with the players.
