Description
Unofficial update to 1.5
The original developer is no longer modding due to working on a game, so I've updated their mod (which I can't live without) to 1.5. If you're the developer and want this taken down, feel free to leave a comment or DM me.
  • Made it work with Ghouls in Anomaly
  • Fixed a log message
  • Fixed an edge-case where pawn response must be "Attack" to use ranged else it defaults to melee. Check is overridden
  • 18/06/2024 - Added support for pawns based on mechs or animals. Should work with any mod that inherits either of those

Original Description
Tired of pawns lounging about during the heat of the battle after their first kill? Or got an easy raid and don't want to micromanage everything? Toggle Search and Destroy to let the AI take control over your pawns while you sit back and enjoy the slaughter, and intervene at any time just in case they screw up.

IMPORTANT NOTES
- This mod depends on Hugslib. Load order should be: Hugslib -> Search and Destroy
- Can be added to existing saves and should be compatible with any mod (let me know if it's not).

Features
- Activate Search and Destroy so drafted pawns look for and attack enemies automatically.
- Give manual orders while a pawn is in Search and Destroy mode at any time. You'll feel never like you're not in control!
- Depends on the vanilla AI (also used by NPCs), which is well tested and works for many situations. Of course it isn't perfect but it should help reducing micromanagement, especially during easy fights.
- Two separate buttons for melee and ranged pawns. Having two buttons allows you to select a group of pawn, and activate search and destroy only for for instance melee pawns (you'll see, this is very convenient).
- Search and destroy is deactivated when a pawn is undrafted to prevent unexpected situations when you draft a pawn at a later moment.

I'm currently no longer active as modder because I'm working on my own game now. I do intend to keep my mods alive, but won't add any new content.

Wished that search and destroy worked with the worker and battle droids from androids for RW 1.5 mod.

Quick Question: If you installed CAI 5000, would my pawns still use the vanilla AI?

@Meme Goddess Okay. It works against enemy factions, though, If you summon an infestation or a mechanoid cluster, then you could find the issue.

@yellowdotchuck I've replicated the issue and looked into why it happens. The thing is, it shouldn't be. If I copy and paste the code of what RimWorld is doing and run it inside the mod, it works perfectly fine. Will keep looking into why it's doing that

What adds onto it is that the mechanoids actually work with this mod in terms of hunting enemy raiders, but not when it comes to hive or mechanoid cluster.

@MoreGamesToPlay Are you using the official Run and Gun or the unofficial update for it? I believe there's some issues with the unofficial. If you could send me your save as well, that'd be extremely helpful ^.^
