Fictional Scenario

When the bridge over the Wilhelmina Canal at Son was captured intact on September 17th, General Horrocks wasted no time in moving the bulk of Guards Armoured through Eindhoven and into the breach formed by the 101st Airborne. The key bridges at Veghel and Nijmegen were both secured by nightfall on the 18th and by the following day the Irish Guards were driving north along the last few kilometers toward Arnhem.

Heavy fighting ensued on the 20th as Guards Armoured fought across the Arnhem bridge and into the city itself, but by the 21st, most of downtown Arnhem had been cleared of Germans as the battered remnants of 9SS Panzer Division fell back to the north and east. To the west, Tettau's ragtag divison was still mostly intact as they dug in around Oosterbeek after shadowing 1st Para's movements eastward into Arnhem. By the 22nd, the Allies had secured Arnhem and withdrawn 1st Para to England.

Monty's lightning success was not gained without a price. As the 82nd Airborne rushed to sieze the Nijmegen bridge, the German Korps Feldt advanced out of the Reichswald, overrunning the landing zones and clearing most of the Groosbeek heights and are now threatening the city of Nijmegen from the southeast. These attacks have effectively tied down the 82nd Airborne and elements of 30 Corps in defensive positions along the city's southeastern perimeter. Even more alarming to Monty and Horrocks are the reports of elements of Untersturmfuehrer Harmel's 10th Panzer division now forming up west of the Pannerden ferry around Doornenburg. Allied Intel reports also suggest that elements of the German 15th Army have begun arriving to the west of the Cooridor.
DESIGNERS NOTE
The scenario is not well-defined in its current state; the objectives for allies are still a work in progress. However, the scenario is somewhat playable in its current form.
