Mobile Launcher Platform +Crawler +USSF Shuttle Arcadia +SSA Science Module (All-in-One Package) [DLC Required]

Description
-----THIS BUILD REQUIRES "IN-GAME SCRIPTS" TURNED ON-----

This ship uses scripts to function. Make sure "Allow in-game scripts" is toggled on in your world advanced settings before pasting the ship in.

-----BASIC INTRODUCTION-----

The Mobile Launcher Platform comes preinstalled with the Crawler Unit, the USSF Shuttle Arcadia, and the Space Station Alpha Science Module. Just copy and paste this build into a world or artificial gravity based platform and take control. The crawler comes with artificial mass blocks turned on. All of these builds are part of the Launch Site Alpha series of builds or known as LSA Series.

This is the premier Shuttle craft of the USSF. Built to ferry astronauts and modules to the newly established Space Station Alpha in low earth orbit. Equipped with auxiliary boosters, the shuttle is more than capable of lifting heavy loads into orbit. These boosters are designed to be reusable after they are jettisoned from the shuttle craft. They are programmed to gentle fly back to earth and land safely on the surface.

This is a complex craft so take special notice of how to operate the build below.

-----NOTES ON HOW TO OPERATE-----
  • 1. This build is very large since it's made almost entirely out of small ship blocks with some large ship blocks taking special functions. So before pasting the build into a world make sure you have a powerful multi-core CPU with at least 3.0GHz clock speed or else your sim speed will drop significantly causing your computer to only have minimum FPS.

  • 2. This build is 4 builds in one, so each structure has different controls and functions to perform. After pasting this build into a world, start by driving the crawler to the shuttle's launch position. The crawler has four different cabins located at each corner of the Crawler and they all have the same functions.

  • 3. After you have moved the crawler to the designated location, you must leave the Crawler cabin and then move to the Mobile Launcher Platform (hereto after referred as MLP) to take control of the Helm. At any of the 2 Helms located inside the MLP, press the Number 1 key on the first toolbar menu to activated the Timer Block that will separate the MLP from the Crawler. The MLP has its own piston jacks that it will deploy to raise itself up. No need for a pre-built launch structure to lift the platform up.

  • 4. Now that the MLP is lifted up, you may connect a custom built base connector to it to supply the MLP and shuttle with hydrogen and oxygen. All the conveyor tubes are only 1x1x1 sized so only small parts can be transported through it.

  • 5. Once you are ready for lift off, all you have to do is climb onboard the shuttle, sit in the main cockpit seat located at the front of the shuttle, and then press the Number 1 key on the first toolbar menu. That will start the whole process for lift off and will take only 45 seconds to launch after that. No need to press any other button after that. The shuttle will take off, jettison the boosters, and then come to a stop in low-earth orbit all on its own. Once the shuttle has stopped, you may proceed how you would like.

  • 6. The shuttle was designed to played with a speed mod installed in the world, so all of the settings for the Booster Module separation sequence was programmed around that. If you are playing with an unlimited speed mod installed then you don't have to change anything. If you are not playing with a speed mod installed, then you might want to change when the Booster Modules will separate from the Shuttle.

  • 7. These are the steps to take to change when the Booster Modules separate from the Shuttle if playing without a speed mod. First, when in the main cockpit seat, open the Control Panel and search for Programmable Block 4 (Main Body) - Altitude. Scroll down to the Argument section on this program block and change the argument to 30000;Timer Block 19 (Booster Module Sequence)

-----KEYPAD FUNCTIONS-----

When using the Crawler Control Seats located in each cabin, this is the toolbar functions for each key for those seats.
Cabin Cockpit C1-C4 Toolbar Menu 1
  • 1- Front Crawler Piston Jacks - Reverse (This will raise or lower the pistons to the caterpillar tracks of the front side of where you are driving.)
  • 2- Front Crawler Piston Jacks - Decrease Maximum Distance
  • 3- Front Crawler Piston Jacks - Increase Maximum Distance
  • 4- N/A
  • 5- Rear Crawler Piston Jacks - Reverse (This will raise or lower the pistons to the caterpillar tracks of the back side of where you are driving.)
  • 6- Rear Crawler Piston Jacks - Decrease Maximum Distance
  • 7- Rear Crawler Piston Jacks - Increase Maximum Distance
  • 8- Camera C1 - C4 - View (This will view the closest camera to the cabin you are in to view upwards towards the MLP so that you may align the crawler with the MLP)
  • 9- Program block Wheel Control - Parking Break On/Off (This is the only way to apply the parking break to the wheels inside the caterpillar tracks.)
When using the Helms located inside the MLP, this is the toolbar functions for each key for those.
    Helm 1-2 Toolbar Menu 1
  • 1- Timer Block - Trigger Now (This will lower the MLP piston jacks to raise the MLP off the Crawler.)
  • 2- N/A
  • 3- Timer Block - Trigger Now (This will raise the MLP piston jacks to lower the MLP back onto the Crawler and reattach it to the Crawler.)
  • 4- Booster Module 1 Hydrogen Tanks - Stockpile On/Off
  • 5- Booster Module 2 Hydrogen Tanks - Stockpile On/Off
  • 6- Booster Module 3 Hydrogen Tanks - Stockpile On/Off
  • 7- Booster Module 4 Hydrogen Tanks - Stockpile On/Off
  • 8- Main Body Hydrogen Tanks - Stockpile On/Off
  • 9- Main Body Oxygen Tanks - Stockpile On/Off

I can only imagine the amount of times something was half a second off and things exploded

@TrueWhiteKnight it took a long time to set everything up system by system, and then another century to fine tune the sequence of everything together.

adds a lot of dramatic flare to leaving atmosphere. love it. how long did it take you to design these systems?

It's not a problem, we all have real lives that sometimes get in the way of our hobbies
