Fixed Normalmaps

Description
This has been something that has been broken for about 10 years, entirely on accident in part due to the original texture artist that has worked on Black Mesa. Basically, the normalmaps were formatted incorrectly and were OpenGL format, this is a problem because source renders its enviroment in DirectX, so casted shadows on the models were basically inversed and incorrect, where there was depth instead was elevation on the normal and vice versa.

This fixes that by simply converting the OpenGL normalmap to DirectX and it drastically improves character lighting, mostly noticeable on the vests and bodies of guards, Scientists pants, and Marines gear.

If you want the source decompressed .TGAs just ask for them.

Black Mesa workshop is out of my comfort zone since i mostly do gmod stuff, so no automatically reloading materials on the fly and lack of a poster command since my native resolution is 1360 x 768 so screens will always be blurry anyway.

id just do the comparisons in gmod but the shader differences (especially phong and rimlighting) wouldnt make them match up how they look in Black Mesa anyway so...

Thanks for the reply, I didn't feel like I noticed a difference during gameplay (to be fair, I am using the Black Mesa Character Expansion, which might be why).
Given how this game tends to ignore almost every workshop addon unless it's migrated over to "customs", I felt like I'd have to do something similar for this one. Again, thanks for the reply!

Just one nitpick, but the screenshots for this addon don't contain a comparison between the patched version and the unpatched version. Considering this was a problem that went unfixed for 10 years; having screenshots of both versions that highlight the difference between how the normalmaps are supposed to look like VS how they are in the base game, would help out tremendously.

Anyways, here's to hoping this gets added to a future patch!

It should work either being subscribed or manual install yes.

although ive found a few more broken normalmaps so be wary if you do a manual install.

Will this still work if placed in the "customs" folder?

Haha. Nice catch though. They oughta put this into next patch.

Ouch, cant argue that.

Imagine how we feel when we realize now all the edited normals done for Blue Shift are now fucked because we overlooked it and painted DirectX info on top of OpenGL.

The worst part is I always KNEW the shading looked fucked but I never bothered looking into it. Fuuuuuuck.

Imagine how i felt when i discovered this on accident and sunk in that its been like this since the 2012 mod release.
