Better City Defenses

Description
I find cities are too easy to conquer in the early game. Siege units are not needed until later than they should be. E.g. if a city has Walls, siege units should normally be requried to take it (just like in real life...way back then). Early cities also take forever to build Walls which just aren't that good in my opinion. Also, it makes no sense that city defenses do not have maintenance costs.

For fun and realism, I added an Information Era defensive building, Defensive Satellites, to help counter all those powerful late game units. Plus I think Satellites should play some role in combat. There is also now a National Wonder for building one in all your cities called Satellite Network HQ, which increases all city defenses by 25% (same as Red Fort wonder, but a late game national wonder).

Since I think the Walls icon looks more like actual palisades than a city wall, I used it for my Palisades and created a new one for the Walls. And since I think "walls" is a bit vague and there are now two kinds of walls I renamed them City Walls, which is what they used to be called in earlier Civ games anyway. Additionally, I replaced the Arsenal's icon with something era appropriate and used its old icon for the new Weapons Depot in the Atomic Era.

-New building, Palisades: No tech required, 0g maint

-City Walls: Requires Palisades, 0g maint

-Castle: 1g maint

-Arsenal: 1g maint

-Military Base: 2g maint

-New building, Weapons Depot: Requires Military Base and Combined Arms tech, 2g maint

-Defense Satellites: Requires Weapons Depot and Satellites tech, 3g maint

-Also added/fixed text to new and old defensive buildings, which was lacking

Note: Besides realism and the issues with early game city defense, I also made this mod to have something to spend all the extra gold one always makes in this game.

Compatibility: Not compatible with Vanilla. Supports but does not require the Babylon DLC.

@Red Sure, sounds great. Glad that people still use this :).

Hello, are you still around? Can I adapt your mod to be compatible with other big Civ V mod such as Vox Populi? I overhauled this mod, so it can adapt well with the VP gameplay.
By doing this means that I have to upload this mod outside of Steam, specifically CivFanatics. I'm still going to credit you, don't worry about that.

@Raw I think that was from when I was trying to make a building that had a chance to shoot down nukes. I needed to be able to make lots of nukes quickly when testing it :).

@ShUhFP The additional defensive buildings are raising city damage by making them stronger. No scripting involved.

Btw, I was looking around your files... what does that Nuclear bomb with no cost is doing there? Is it active somehow? I guess I didn't notice it in-game yet.

I must ask if you somehow increased the City Damage? If so, I'd honestly love to know what scripting that took! I've been creating a custom civilization and wanted their special trait to be an increase in city defensive damage.

Could you potentially create a missile defense mod that allows the creation of a building or unit that signifigantly decreases the chances of weapons like nukes dealing any damage at all? Like the SDI feature in civ 4?

I loved it! Even if in fact goes straight to the other direction I believe should be (no city dmg at all XD) Untill I don't find a mod witch totally inhibits city dmg (while balancing zone of control to ranged and melle units so that military becomes something more important and more efective for defense), untill then I guess I am using this mod.

Too bad. Anyway, I still like and use your mod as is.

@Wetballs Ty for interest. Sadly, from my research BNW broke the possibility of such a feature without a dll mod, which I've never done. I left the code snippets I was working on in the mod in the hopes I'd one day find a workaround.
