Description
*Spawns at Spycakes*

- It is important to note that there is not a lot of interior, or a lot of effort put into any interior with this ship. This was made quickly for Role Playing purposes, and was used as a test bed for a brand new steam system design that ties pressure given off by a boiler directly to the temperature of the boiler.

RRS Kaffe
Welcome aboard the RRS Kaffe: the largest troopship serving under the Rowekistani flag! Below in the description, you will find information in regards to some basic information about the ship, the startup procedure, how to operate the liner, some history, and how you can join us on our RP voyages aboard this liner.

Name
Kaffe
Year Built
1907
Length
106 meters
Mass
282208
Max Boiler Operating Temp
235 Degrees
Power Plant
Steam Turbines
Max Speed
28 Knots

STARTUP PROCEDURE

  1. Locate the keypads on each boiler, and set the boiler temp to the desired temperature
  2. While boilers heat up, open all the water injector lines (on the front of the boiler), and steam lines (on the top of the boilers)
  3. Locate the Pump Rooms (the aft ends of boiler rooms 2 and 3) and open both the steam lines and water injector lines on the Air and Water Injector pumps
  4. Move into the engine room and open the steam valves for the 4 condenser pumps (2 pumps on either side of the forward end of the room, and 2 on the aft end)
  5. Move into the dynamo room, and open the throttle
  6. Make you way up to the switchboard room above the dynamos, and get the electrics on by flipping the breakers and switchboards.
  7. By this time, the boilers should be heated up to full pressure. Check your stacks and make sure youre not venting steam. If you are, turn down your firebox temperature until you stop venting steam.

OPERATING THE SHIP

- this is a very advanced system. many people will struggle to get it to run efficiently, but thats the fun of it. It can run simply by firing at a high temp.

  • The engine controls consist of 2 throttle levers per engine. One works the main forward turbine, while the other works the reversing turbine.
  • There is no speedometer on the ship. There is an RPS dial on the forward end of each turbine. At full speed she can output 41 RPS. Half is half of that, and slow of Half of the Half RPS.
  • This ship uses a new steam system that ties steam pressure to the temperature of the firebox. The ship will start to vent steam if the fireboxes are too hot and you raise too much pressure, so you will need to balance the firebox temps to prevent the ship from vention steam. If managed well, you can push the ship beyond its max speed of 28 knots. (preventing the steam from venting is NOT required to run the ship)

HISTORY

*The history / lore of this ship is developing in real time the the Stormworks Maritime Hub discord server based off the RP experiences she goes through on her crossings.*

Following the massive success of the Duchess of Cumbria and Duchess of St. Lawrence, Imperial Hedland realized that the time was right to start work on a new class of liner that would corner the SMH passenger trade. Designs were put into place as the Duchess of St. Lawrence was completed and pushed into service. While initial plans depicted a similar design to Duchess of Cumbria, but scaled up, Imperial Hedland realized that if they wanted to corner the market, they had to innovate. Large, sumptuously decorated public spaces with plenty of room and capacity for the many passengers that would sail aboard her, and new amenities to draw in the traveling public. While the Duchess of Cumbria set out to create a sense of a cozy, home like atmosphere, this new Duchess would be a floating palace, and indeed when the keel plates were laid down in 1903, Project 007 seemed like it would fulfill this need.

While project 007's keel plates were laid down, and her hull began to grow, political tensions were also growing amongst the other nations of SMH. By this time, most nations had merged into one of two alliances, the "Quadralliance," or the "United Crowns Alliance," and the destain between the two began to increase with each day. Then, tensions surged when Rowekistan made a bold move and claimed a chunk of land up in the arctic. The Syastratkas, enraged by this move, immediately set about intimidating Rowekistan through a campaign of military oneupsmanship. Seeing that war was very possibly on the horizon, King Rowan of Rowekistan also set his nation about preparing for battle. All shipyards commenced with construction on new battleships, and factories began pouring out new and sophisticated plane designes. It was also at this time the Rowekistani Government reached out to Imperial Hedland. Rowekistan needed to transport its troops and supplies to their new arctic territory of Northumbria, and IHS newly launched ship would fit the need.

While not originally designed to make a journey up to the arctic, a deal was struck between IHS and the Rowekistani officials that would see a number of design changes made to project 007 that would increase her speed and strength. Additional boilers were fitted to the ship, and slightly modernized set of turbines were build. This would see her speed increase from its original 25 knots, to a staggering 28 knots. Other alterations were made, however, for the sake of getting the vessel into service quicker. Originally designed with 3 stacks, her 3rd, "dummy" stack was not installed, and instead replaced with an additional mast to carry cargo loading equipment. Another major change saw nearly the entirety of her A deck superstructure also left out, as well as her bridge. In its place lay a tiny wheel house and some canvas frames. Never the less, Project 007, now named the Royal Rowekistani Ship (RRS) Kaffe, steamed out for her sea trials in 1907, and began her career shuttling troops and war supplies to and from the arctic. While war has still not been declared between the nations, the RRS Kaffe has had a few close encounters with Quadralliance vessels, and she is a highly sought after target should war break out.

She is still currently in service as a troop ship.

does anyone know reason ship loses speed despite all seeming normal, like no steam venting etc

Hey, got a silly little question for you
With full and proper credit (including you marked as a creator of it) could I make a passenger liner version of this ship?
Totally cool if not! Much love, dahlia xoxo
