"Disable "Advanced Shader Effects" in the settings. It makes the terrain look a bit shit, but at least it removes the sudden FPS change when you zoom in and out between map levels.
I found that the difference in FPS between "Advanced Shader Effects" enabled and disabled is far larger after 1.12.1, than before.
After 1.12.1, where they added graphical effects for plagues, my FPS dropped to around 60, where normally I get around 200, only in the political map. "Advanced Shader Effects" is probably a switch to use a more advanced shader, and that shader they changed to acommodate plague graphics, which lowered performance. In 1.12.1 i could boost FPS to normal levels by unchecking the "disease graphics" checkbox in the mapmode section, but in 1.12.4 it seems to no longer have any effect.
You can check that 1.11.5 is the latest version of the game that is unaffected."
Anyway, thank you for your response and willing to help!
Didn't even need a restart of game to take effect. May the Horned God Bless you!
