Primitive Fridge

Description
Adds primitive fridges capable of refrigerating perishables. Heavily based on Owchemist's Simple Utilities: Fridge [1.4].

These are basically primitive, unpowered variants of the regular fridge, effective enough to only refrigerate food (down to 4°C). Useful if you don't want your tribals to run around the colony for a whole day only to eat a meal, in prison cells, and wherever really.

Unlocked through the "Advanced Tribal Refrigeration" research project.

Compatibility

Updates:

‎‎2024‎/‎4‎/‎11‎‎
  • Made compatible with the new DBH 1.5 update.

Please report any bugs, but note that as I don't actively mod, I may not be able to address them all.

@Di3zel Unfortunately I can't do much from my side except wish you the best in resolving the issue, since it's hard to pinpoint exactly the problem mod you're having. Usually cutting down chunks of your modlist is a good way to do this.

@alt4s Thanks but justtcan't figure it out. Whenever i add this mod to my list of mods it grinds my game to 2 FPS at launching my game. Not sure what it may be. I have about 6 other storage mods so it may be one of them causing conflict. I also can't add Rimfridge as it causes the same issue....

@Di3zel Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s an issue with rocketman or this mod, plus it’s not the full log. You should try troubleshoot this based on well-known troubleshooting steps for Rimworld, some of which can be found in the community discord.

@alt4s It looks like an issue with Rocketman?

Please don't report this to the RocketMan team unless you're certain RocketMan caused this error. with error System.MissingMethodException: PrimitiveFridge.PrimFridgeUtility PrimitiveFridge.PrimFridgeUtility.GetUtilityForMap(Verse.Map)

@Di3zel Are you sure it's this mod? It runs perfectly fine on my playthroughs. If you're sure it's this mod, how did you come to the conclusion?

this is making my game grind to a halt? Any ideas what might be causing the slowdown? is it one of the fuel mods?
alt4s  [author] 2 May @ 9:14pm
@13thrule Wood or water if you're using DBH.

Hi is this just a fridge that doesn't run on power but wood?

@Vlad_1492 If you just want the surrounding temperatures to affect the contents inside the fridge, you can simply turn off refueling, since without fuel the fridge won't affect the stuff in it. Though I agree that it does make sense for the fridge not to "heat up" the food if the temperature around it is colder. I'll probably look into it.

Nice mod.

Sadly it does not seem to respect ambient temperatures, so storing my meat outside in the winter it still rots.

Can you allow contents to freeze if the surroundings are cold enough?
