Description
Presenting the KO Digital Chart Plotter
Modern vessels deserve modern bridge solutions. That is why KO now proudly presents the KO Digital Chart Plotter. Designed with the user in center, this plotter presents the data you need in a professional looking, easy to understand fashion.

This is an example vehicle! If you want the microcontroller, it is available here.

Features
  • Easy to use touch display.
  • Collapsible advanced data field & separate crucial data in permanent, non-intrusive fields.
  • Waypoint system, with bearing, time to arrival and distance to target, as well as visual presentation on-screen.
  • Status message system for external systems with Autopilot, Dynamic Positioning System and Alarms. (Optional. Systems not included in this controller, only status message)
  • Compatible with all displays from 2x2 and larger. (2x3 recommended)

Buttons and data fields - explanation
Map movement is controlled by touching around center of the screen in the direction you wish to go. In the top left corner, there are four buttons. These control zoom in and out, reset the map and toggles the waypoint symbol on the display.

In the remaining three corners, you find the essential data presented. These are:
  • COG - Course Over Ground. This is the exact bearing the vessel is moving in (not pointing towards).
  • SOG - Speed Over Ground. This is the speed, in knots, that the vessel is moving, in any direction.
  • DPT - Depth. This is the depth from the point where you place your depth distance sensor (somewhere near the keel is the most common).

In the collapsible advanced data sheet, you will find:
  • HDG - Heading. This is the exact direction towards which your bow is pointing.
  • DTT - Distance To Target. This is the distance to your waypoint in kilometers.
  • BTT - Bearing To Target. This is the bearing to the waypoint.
  • TTA - Time To Arrival. This is the time, in minutes, in which you will arrive at the target, driving directly towards it at the current speed.

Customizability
Changing the color scheme is a pretty simple task. Go into the LUA block and find the definitions of the RGB values. There are three available - r1,g1,b1, r2,g2,b2 and r3,g3,b3. These are the three main grey colors and can be switched out for any color you want. Map colors can be found further down in the code. I chose not to put these are a property setting for performance reasons mainly.
