Morphic Fractal Technique
By clumsy_catbird
Using this technique, we should be able to resolve these quickly or decide that one is too elusive, as I finally mention.

Concept
When using a computer, we often do drag'n'drop like throwing an object at a target, all we think about is the target, not our hand, arm or the ball - tracking device in this case.

This puzzle is much like drag'n'drop where we need to work out the target - I'll call the target image the hmmm...Target.
Technique
EDIT: sorifiend mentions dragging from border to centre instead - I've been finding that works better than what I put below.

Imagine the puzzle as a clock. We need to draw the hour hand for a particular time. Using the following, you need to work out a drag speed that suits you - not too quickly or too slowly.

  • Drag from the centre of the puzzle to 12 o'clock, while comparing change to the Target then press Reset.
  • Repeat this step for 3, 6, and 9.
  • By now you should know whether to try either 1:30, 4:30, 7:30 or 10:30.
  • You should now have it down to within 5 minutes which is close to the tolerance of the puzzle.
  • Once it's close to the Target, drag slightly up, down, left or right to Tweak it - I'll call this Final Drag/Tweak.

  • If it doesn't Tweak within around 10 seconds press Reset.
  • If it doesn't solve within 3 Final Drag/Tweak walk away - I'll call that an Attempt.
  • If it is part of a Bonus, do some other puzzles and come back - you want that Mirabili.

Using this technique, I mostly get it in 1-3 Attempts, often within 1 Final Drag/Tweak.

EDIT as sorifiend[url] pointed out, this technique works with dragging from rim to centre. Using this I'm getting much better control and solve rate so will revise this guide
Elusive Fractals
There are, however, around 3-5% of these puzzles that Elude this Technique. They have numerous variations that closely match the Target. I'll decide this within 10-15 seconds and walk away for good.

In the Cloud of Pearls Alcove, there are more than enough Morphic Fractal puzzles to get the Bonus 10 in reasonable time.

@clumsy_catbird

adding to this, I figured that if you increase the DPI dramatically, (via mouse buttons) and moving the cursor around, I can finish fractals under a minute.

Hope this helps someone

I still don't get it well, but after i read your post i just magically became able to solve it. thanks anyway:steamhappy:

One thing I'll mention is that you can hold Mouse2 to move it around while clicking Mouse1 to repeatedly test the solution - instead of pressing and releasing Mouse2 repeatedly.

Optionally, you can then combine this with an autoclicker to completely destroy every fractal in the game (solving like half of them in under a second).

Good point sorifiend, the technique is based on 'binary search'. Halving the puzzle we can drag from 12 to centre then 6 to centre then halve that by dragging 3 to centre then 9 to centre. By this stage we should know whether any of those or 1:30, 4:30, 7:30 or 10:30 is closest and then tweak from there.

Same for compass, drag N, E, S, W to try and decide an those closest or NE, SE, SW or NW.

Great technique, thanks for sharing. Sometimes if you can't get a match, you can also try drag from the edges into the centre.

Thanks for the tip. I hate these things.

I saw a video also describing this technique, and referring to it as a "vector" technique. It seems like a nice way to hack all those Morphic Fractal puzzles (not that that's how I do them, but hey, whatever works).
