History

Ah yes, the never ending search for the perfect light fighter, which started with V-19, would lead to V-Wing and eventually the TIE Fighter. In this story, Z-95 was the quintessential middle child, that received the least love. Despite being quite an old design, Incom was willing to update it's bestseller for the Republic contract, which over time gained the colloquial nickname of "Clone Model" or "Clone Z-95". While being adequate for the time being, a light interceptor with the footprint of a heavy starfighter just couldn't last, and was already scheduled to be replaced by Alpha 3 Nimbus. It seems Republic Z-95 contract wasn't all that big to begin with, because by the end of the Clone Wars very few "Clone Models" were still in service. Last Z-95s were most likely re-sold at heavy discounts by the Empire to the friendly planetary governments after the Clone Wars.

Pros: decent maneuverability, very simple and rugged construction.
Cons: mediocre range, mediocre armament, large silhouette from top and bottom, and unjustifiably large footprint in the hangar.

SPECIAL THANKS:

Really impressive how The Clone Wars artists were able to turn one of the ugliest Legends fighters into one of the most beautiful.

@Ahsoka Tano I mean, who didn't watch it, but both 2003 and 2008 Clone Wars are worthless as reference because of the heavily distorted art style and infinite inconsistencies. I am personally going for the mix of Episode III / DICE Battlefront II models.

did you watch the clone wars show? If not, I can help with how the ship worked there, but I can say it never had that door there, the valiant on the other hand was known for that feature of the frontal hangar, but hey, I wouldn't be overly opposed to e frontal hangar on a venator, would help with quick deployment without exposing HALF THE SHIP :D

@Ahsoka Tano pardon, forgot to answer the question about the hangar. So, all the official literature since Episode III Incredible Cross-Sections says Venators did have small frontal opening doors to help with deployment, but if you look at the actual RotS model, it has a weird sphere in the way of it and, frankly, we have no idea how it is supposed to work. The only time we saw that door in actual use was in DICE's Battlefront II, but it's still not obvious how it was supposed to work.

@Captain_chance23 it's in works. While not 1:1, it's still +600m, and making a fully functional half-kilometer carrier with interior that can also fly in atmosphere is a pain, to say the least. But I can give my word - it will be released.

@Ahsoka Tano of course! Thanks to their reduced (compared to Venator and Acclamator) size, I was able to build them rather quickly, so they are about ~95% complete both externally and internally. However, I want to post all the fighters / shuttles before turning my head to capital ships - just seems more appropriate.

also, question, are you working on a valiant as well, or is that the venator with the frontal hangar exit?

so I saw two new beauties in those images, an arquitens cruiser and a consular corvette :D any plans on releasing either? And while I'm here: loving this, instant sub :D
