DK's Large World

Description
A large world I made with large asteroids placed far apart. There are 7 beacons in this world that each represent a 30km^3 sector. Each sector has a primary ore associated with it as well as a small cluster of asteroids containing every ore. This isn't meant to be a realistic mod in any way. I just thought it would be fun to play in a world where transportation and exploration were necessary. The asteroids in this world are noticeably different from the default asteroids due to the way SEToolbox generates asteroids. The asteroids in my world are either one solid material or a core material surrounded by another material.

The ships in this world used to visibly shake a lot (a common issue with larger worlds) but this appears to have been fixed by one of the recent updates. The world now runs smoothly on my computer.

The world takes a while to load but once it is loaded it runs fine in most areas. It does slow down in some of the larger asteroid fields but it is still playable on my computer.

If anyone has any suggestions or comments I would be happy to hear them.

The large named asteroids I made myself using Sculptris and I imported them into the world using SEToolBox.

The beacons were made using the Adminantium Pack mod.

Yes I know. I addressed that in the second paragraph of the description. It has to do with how the game handles objects placed far apart. I'm hoping that Keen will at some point update the game to allow for stable large worlds but until then I understand that some people will not want to put up with the shaking. Personally I find that having a larger defined world to explore is worth the annoyance that the shaking causes. The shaking gets worse the farther you get from the center of the world (Coeus Beacon).

I actually experimented with that mod while making this map but couldn't get a satisfying result. The "sky" surrounding the planets would dissappear when you got further than a couple hundred meters away from it. It just felt very strange to see a large asteroid in the distance but when you got close to it the sky would just appear out of nowhere. It did give an interesting effect while on the asteroid/planet though.

Im no expert mapmaker but an idea you could do is add "Sektan's Sky" Mod and sorta make a large would but with "Planets"

Possibly. When Keen did an AMA on reddit they talked about adding larger worlds in the base game. So I am hesitant to do another large map like this until I know what direction they are planning on going with large worlds.
