Backrooms: The Hub

The Hub Lore

The Hub is a level of the backrooms that doesn't have any numbering as such. The Hub represents a vast network of tunnels illuminated by yellow industrial lamps, primarily resembling an underground highway, which presumably envelops the entire backrooms. Due to such features, the Hub typically has doors to other levels. Most of the doors for wanderers are closed because the majority of them require a unique key from the level. Entities cannot initially be on the Hub level, so it is an excellent place for wanderers to survive, and many outposts are also built here.

About the map

Originally, I hadn't even considered making maps on the theme of the backrooms, but the main inspiration for me became "Escape the backrooms" when I saw the hub level there, I liked it, and I decided to recreate it in Garry's Mod.


Also, VHS filter addons are very suitable for this map.

Features
  • Soundscape ( default hl2 )
  • levels that can be entered through a numbered door
  • Ai nodes
  • Navmesh
  • The ability to turn the lights on and off in the hub ( To turn off or on the lights, use noclip and find a small room above the player spawn )

Issues
  • Navmesh is a bit unstable, and some Nextbots prefer to hide on the level 2 lol, also, Nextbots may lose sight of you
  • On some levels no Navmesh

Levels

In addition to the hub itself, as mentioned above, there are some additional levels here.

  • Level 0 - Lobby
  • Level 1 - Habitable Zone
  • Level 2 - Pipe dream
  • Level 6 - Lights Out
  • Level 6.1 - The Snackrooms
  • Level 8 - Cave System ( very small used only for Teleport )
  • Level 188 - Courtyard with windows
  • Level 404 - Level not found

Most levels are not large and simply serve as atmospheric details and bonuses to the hub.
Also, with new updates to the map, I may add new levels or expand existing ones, but I'm not sure about that yet.

good news. i bought steam points. bad news. i bought less because we need to keep the money and i only have 202 points so i still cant award you. i cant find any awards that are 200 or below

Interesting idea, but I haven't updated this map in a long time, and I haven't found the time or motivation. Maybe if I do another update, I might add level 55.1.

oh and also, I have an idea for something. (don't have to do it, just an idea.)
it randomly happens, but sometimes a large entity comes from the very end of the map, and the player has to find one of those levels and go in to hide from it. maybe you could make two maps, one with no entity, and one with one, so people don't have to play with it.
