Description
Antonio Mamerto Gil Núñez, a gaucho given a message from God, joins Heroes & Legends

Throughout Latin America there has been a growing religious awakening in the veneration of the gaucho (cowboy) outlaw known as Gauchito Gil, or "Little Gaucho Gil." Popular belief holds that Antonio Mamerto Gil Núñez was executed by the state for deserting the army during the Argentine Civil Wars. It is alleged that God ordered Gaucho Gil to never murder an innocent. During his execution, he made a plea that his executioner pray for his intercession and in doing so the executioner's ill son would be cured. Originating as a rural folk Saint, the mysterious Antonio Mamerto Gil Núñez has proliferated from Buenos Aires to Mexico City as a symbol of rural life, anti-establishment disobedience, and as an opponent to neoliberalism. Though the many Catholic Churches of the new world seldom tolerate this folk Saint, there are a few diocese that recognise the legend as a martyr.

Origins: Argentina (Corriente), 1870s AD.

STRUDELER'S HEROES: GAUCHITO GIL

FEATURES
  • Requires: RISE AND FALL, GATHERING STORM, and BABYLON.

    HERO: GAUCHITO GIL
  • Class: Light Cavalry.
  • Unique Ability - Gauchito Gil the Folk Protector: Gauchito Gil cannot attack. Units within 2 tiles of Gauchito Gil gain +5 Combat or Religious Strength when defending. Gauchito Gil gains +2 Movement when in or adjacent to home territory.
  • Unique Ability - Gauchito Gil the Folk Saint: Gauchito Gil's Heroic Relics are three times stronger than regular Heroic Relics. Relics and Heroic Relics gain +100% Tourism while Gauchito Gil is active. Gauchito Gil's city Loyalty bonus is empowered to 3 tiles and granting +3 Loyalty at the end of every turn.
  • Common Ability - None: As a Light Cavalry Unit with moderate movement, this unit does not have a movement ability such as Swift, Agile, or Rugged.

  • Works with STRUDELER'S CIVILIZATION VI DELUXE.
  • Strudeler's Civilizations that have a unique Temple replacement (Delhi, Nasran, Romano-Israel) are compatible, granting the appropriate 15% discount when summoning Gauchito Gil again.
