Following the opening of the ring gate network, there was a sudden and pressing need for fledgling colonies to defend themselves. OSI's naval branch decided to reactivate a hull pattern from a bygone era when Earth's nations still squabbled over the LEO space above the planet.

The Chasseur corvette is a small naval vessel designed for picket duty around installations in vacuum. Hailing from what was once the United States of America, these ships were assigned to the Coast Guard LEO detachment and used to patrol US LEO space interdicting smuggling ships, and fending off small scale naval incursions.

Today the Chasseur's weaponry and internals have been modernized to meet the present-day needs and requirements of far flung backwater colonies, and have even been approved for export inside the sol system to individual captains.
