WW 2 Submarine "Vesikko"

Description
DON'T USE WITH INF ELECTRIC
Info
This is a WW 2 era submarine based on the Type VII and a Finnish submarine called submarine Vesikko. The outer dimensions are the same as in the Vesikko and the interior is from the Vesikko. Some parts of the hull and control systems are similar to the Type VII. The ballast system is realistic and works the same as real WW 2 submarines. You need to manage the air system to use the submarine properly.
Specifications
  • Length: 42,5 m
  • Hull Width: 4,75 m
  • Hull Height: 7,25 m
  • Max rated depth: 100 m
  • Guided Torpedoes: 3
  • Speed Surfaced: 24 knots, Submerged 24.
  • Range: 60 km (diesel power) 25 km (Electric power)
  • Dive Time: 30 sec, surface time 30 sec.

Usage
CODE for the torpedoes and lock override is 1702.
How to drive
  1. First head to the engine room and enable the fuses that you need. (all of them if you want accept red)
  2. Then head to the engine panel and start the engines with the key buttons. You need to enable all the switches.
  3. Now is a good time to start building tank pressure. You can do this by electric and/or diesel. Electric compressor is enabled in the control room with the key button. Diesel exhaust can be directed into the tanks with the valves on top of the engines.
  4. Now you can start driving from the control room or the conning tower.
If the engines slow down with the throttle maxed out they might not get enough exhaust flow. To increase exhaust flow make sure that all exhaust valves are open. (above the engines)
How to dive
  1. Stop all engines and enable electric drive. Keep moving. Submarines dive when moving
  2. Make sure that the conning tower hatch is closed and locked.
  3. Open main ballast valves with the cranks in the control room
  4. Now pitch down with the pitch set or manually control the dive planes.
You can make the sub neutrally buoyant with the trim tank controls. (green) Use them only for fine tuning and not diving.

  5. To achieve perfect neutral buoyancy, the automatic trimming system can be used. NOTE! This system is by no means necessary and the same result can be achieved by manual trimming, although a lot more time consuming.

    When you want to surface:
  6. Close the ballast valves with the cranks.
  7. Pitch up and open the red valve in the control room.
  8. When the main ballast is not emptying anymore shut the red valve.
If you want to charge the batteries: surface, start the engines and enable electric drive. It will go into generator mode.
When using depth hold disable the pitch set.
  • The torpedoes are operated in the torpedo room. Enable the fuse, enter the password and unlock the torpedoes and fire when ready.
  • Cannon is controlled from the seat next to the cannon. Ammo is stored in front of the cannon and under the dining table.
  • There is a navigation calculator above the map. The operation of the calculator is too hard to explain here but it can calculate a new position based on the current positions and other parameters.
  • If you are in big waves and the ballast is filling on its own, you can close the valves with the switch next to the front ballast valve crank.

They use the old sonars and hone in a target. If there is no target it spins around I think.
eerof.palomaki 11 Jan @ 4:29am
so they go into the nearest sonar ping?
Saju  [author] 10 Jan @ 1:11pm
They are sonar guided as the description says
eerof.palomaki 10 Jan @ 11:42am
are they supposed to go straight into the current bearing? Because they aren't doing that for me.

The torpedoes start turning either left or right right after firing, am i doing something wrong?
