If when evolving to a bot, if the portrait does not appear to you, use the following code in the console:
effect = { modify_species = { portrait = aly_mecha } }

Mecha Dakonius Update:

Mecha Drakonius is an optional addon for Apex Drakonius (REQUIRED) and adds the following features to the original mod:

  • A playable animated machine species with 6 minor visual variations
  • Custom visuals for robots assembled by the biological species from Apex Drakonius
  • A custom trait to in line with the species' theme

I have tried to make it as complete as I understood feasible for a first release:

  • Fully animated male and female portraits
  • One outfit for each type of leader and pop with a few extra colors for rulers
  • A custom and completely free trait to contextualize the species with my vision of what they are
  • English and Chinese localisation [龙裔]





My original intention was for a militaristic species with very high physical prowess, the trait itself reflects that. I do believe though that there is nothing that stops any type of build to be completely viable roleplay wise, for that reason I have not written them any lore. They'll be whatever you want them to be; the only thing they won't be is weak.





It should be compatible with any other mod. It does not replace any base game file.

I highly recommend to use this mod together with UI Overhaul Dynamic. The sprites are pretty big and so are the meshes, so everything will look better with it. The mod will work without it, but it may look like the sprites are trying to escape the UI limitations.

In terms of future, I am still not sure. I gravitate towards creating them an origin start and a few legendary rulers. SD has been used to generate a portion of the reference material used to make these assets, a very significant amount of photoshop tools, plugins and editing as well as my own sketching and painting.

Thank you very much to anyone who decides to use my little thing. Even though this took a while, it was overall very fun to make and figure out. Feel free to send me any feedback, positive or negative here in the mod's page comments.

Hello, great mod right there! Tho I found some issue with the mecha one. They cannot be use as individualist machine and they cannot spawn as a regular empire or fallen empire. I'm also working on a machine mod and I can give you the fixes if needed!

@Aly As it so turned out I did figure out what the problem was and it was the outdated af patch "Giga Diversity" which had been irrelevant and unnecessary for the longest of times.
I'll admit, it was one hell of a headache once I realized it was a wombo combo of both outdated and replaced mods with bad data requiring a full clean.
But still, thanks for checking over! Still love using the mod quite a lot!

@ItsDaKoolaidDude Hey there! I've tried that and it seems to be working fine now. Just as a reference, that is not something that I need to manually assign with the mod. It's done automatically by the game. It's likely that it was an issue related to UI Overhaul, especially since July 1st was patch day. If it's still happening to you, feel free to send me a screenshot in case I am missing something.

Mind giving a quick check over this and the robo Apex mod? Something broke with my modlist and UI Overhaul updated today and its causing the problem where the window for choosing a species for colonization is completely blank from both the "construct colony ship" and selecting an inhabitable planet
