Annie Barrel MKI 2-Welder Printer Head [SDX]

Description
Annie Barrel Printer MKI [SDX]
Barrel-Style Shipyard Printer
by christophuc

Designed for Sigma Draconis Expanse [SDX]

Now Glass Free!

This printer uses longer rotating arms spinning around the ship, with no glass barrier between projection and welder.

FEATURES

  • New 'Barrel-Style' design with improved efficiency. Unlike glass-wall style printers, all welders spend more time on target, which translates to faster prints.
  • Full ship coverage with just two welders; one UNN, one MCRN. This means you can print ships with up to 4 internal welders without having to place them later/exceed limits. Arms also work well with 4 welders (one UNN/MCRN on each side) for faster prints.
  • Also works as a repair station, just fly your ship in!
  • Optimised for use with [RPA] Robot Printing Automation.
  • Integrated, merged-in RPA tug drone
  • Exterior vegas lights stagger up the inside of the barrel cage in a spiral sequence.
  • Sequenced, pulsing "[RPA-Fancy]" alert lights on the inside of the welder arms and other locations integrate with RPA and activate when welders are armed.
  • Sequenced nav lights
  • Zero alignment projectors. To repair, merge the drone and load the main BP into it's projector. To build/repair welder arms, place a end-cap conveyor on top of the rotor head, add a projector with forward pointing away from the rotor, then load BP.
  • Collision Protection Sensors. 4 sensors on the weld arm provide collision protection by stopping the rotor.
  • A timer block is used to ensure the rotor stops even if RPA burns out or crashes.
  • Printer is a [UDS] Universal Docking System module
  • Compatible with various modules, ships and stations by germstorm and I.
  • Annie is a flyable skiff using thrusters/gyros from the merged in projection drone and on the main printer grid.
  • Full crew cabin with 4 bunks, basic living space and printer ops deck
  • Fairly low PCU (~14kish), easily added to stations

IMPORTANT NOTES
  • Always set the main grid to a station before operation! Seriously don't forget.
  • Limited to ships no wider than 28 blocks! In my experience, this easily covers all cruisers.
  • UNN and MCRN welders are required! Other welders do not have sufficient reach and will fail to print correctly. You'll need 5 MCRN components and 5 UNN components to build this printer.
  • Sensors will help to protect you against collision with the weld arm, but be careful! Sensors/rotor can only react so fast. Watch your positioning and use automation like RPA to prevent accidental collision. Sensors are pre-configured, but can clear during construction. Check that the sensors are triggering the EMERGENCY STOP timer block, and check that the timer block is running the stop command and turning off the rotor.
