Automated Mining Vessel (AMV)

Description
**I have not played this game in over a year and have no plans on coming back to it. If anyone wishes to continue devlopement on this, you have my permission to do so. Just give credit where it's due.**

I have published the AMV as a blueprint. You can find it here.

**I am no longer supporting this version of the build. You can get my most current and supported build of the AMV from the above link.**

This is a fully Automated Mining Vessel (AMV). This has been a side project of mine that I have finally completed. It took me longer than I care to admit to complete this, but it was just a side project. This is the biggest and most complex of my builds, so far. For those of you familiar with my builds, you know that I use gravity to propel my rigs as they drill. The AMV is no exception. However, different from my other builds, I use a spherical gravity generator in the AMV. The spherical gravity generator allows for the collection of every spec of ore that is mined, nothing is lost or wasted. All ore that is loose gets caught into the gravity field and pulled into a collector. The AMV has a rotating drill platform. This allows for a wide mining area with fewer drills. My previous rig has 285 drills, the AMV has only 125. Yet, it has a wider radius than my previous rig. The AMV is covered in heavy armor. There are cameras on the front of the AMV for remote control and to help maneuvering into position. There are also cameras on the back and several on the inside. Inside of the AMV, there are refineries, assemblers, and arc furnaces. Everything is connected to the fully integrated conveyor system. As stated before, this is a fully automed vessel. It has a remote control block and a timer block. All you have to do to start mining is to "trigger" the timer block. The timer block will activate the rotating drill platform, the drills, the artificial masses, the spotlights, and the asteroid sensor. To stop mining, just "trigger" the timer block again and it will deactivate everything it activated. Or, you can let the AMV emerge from the asteroid and it will shut itself off automatically. If everything copies correctly (sometimes it doesn't), you should only have to hit the "1" key to "trigger" the timer block. Once the AMV is in position, just trigger the timer block and go grab a cold one, or coffee, or something. Go raid an enemy ship, or something else. :) The point I'm trying to make is it's automated and slow. It does take a while to drill through an asteroid. But, if it went any faster, it would tear itself apart. Also, unlike my other rigs, you should leave the thrusters on while mining. There is no paint job, I leave that to you, since everyone's taste is different. I would love to see how you paint it though. :)

The AMV contains: (* = items on the drill platform)

1 Large Reactor (with Uranium)
6 Large Cargo Containers
6 Refineries
6 Arc Furnaces
6 Assemblers
28 Batteries (fully charged and switched off)
3 Artificial Masses
2 Expandable/Retractable Connectors
12 Cameras
12 Gyroscopes (4 are off *see 'Change Notes' for v1.2)
1 Remote Control
1 Timer
1 Antenna
1 Beacon
1 Spherical Gravity Generator
1 Ore Detector
1 Medical Station
1 Merge Block
1 'Asteroid Sensor'
Lots of Collectors
Fully integrated conveyor system
125 Drills*
4 Gyroscopes*
8 Small Cargo Containers*
8 Spotlights*
1 Merge Block*
Lots of Connectors*

I hope you enjoy this build. :) Rate if you like it and feel free to leave a comment.

A little advise. As I was testing this, I noticed that the rotating platform does get damaged. So, I would check it for damage after you get done drilling. Also, avoid make any sudden or quick turns, as that can also damage the drill platform.

I just released (10-5-14) a small mining ship "Remote Control Mining Ship (RCMS)" to compliment the AMV. You can find it here: http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=323059741

If you like this skybox, you can get it (and more) at http://skybox.xaelan.com/
This skybox is called "Your Caldari Space", made by Spaceman.
It can also be found on the workshop here: http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=297296122

**See 'Change Notes' for v1.2 for addtional details about SEToolbox**
SEToolbox Warning: (https://setoolbox.codeplex.com/)
*Warning: Use SEToolbox at your own risk. The pistons will break if the vessel is copied with it. Also, all programable blocks (ie. sensors, timers) will be wiped of their actions. Instead, use the "ctrl+c -> esc" method. If you are unfamiliar with this method, here is a link to a YouTube video by LastStandGamers that explains it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BC9gu8YfTns

Change Log: (See "Change Notes" for more details.)
v1.2 - Added gyros (see v1.2 notes for details about SEToolbox)
v1.1 - Added "Asteroid Sensor" (Update 1.049)
v1.0.1 - Minor Last Minute Adjustments
v1.0 - Initial Release

Thank you Kaymish and rydob. :)

this is a nice piece of work and i have learned so much from taking it to pieces and looking how you built what thanks :D:

I really like the style of this ship. Can't wait to try it out!

@syntek: I found it odd as well, i'm not sure if it's the drill gyroscopes as they're supposed to be turned on/off. I like figuring things out and hopefully it's just a bug with the rotors or something. Anyway, have a good one! :)

@brifiction: I did as you said, and it does rotate all on its own. I have no idea why it does it or how I can stop it from doing it. I have never had a ship do that before. That is really odd. If you or anyone else can figure out how to fix this, let me know and I'll update it.

@BrokenEye: Thank you :). I usually have a base of operations that I dock this behemoth at.

This is epic. Great job

@syntek: I simply did this. went into flight cockpit after pressing T, press Y to shutdown. left flight cockpit control by pressing T and just observed the ship moving on its own while inside the ship, slowly but gradually. I hope it's clear enough for a recreation of the scenario. Thanks again for the reply :) been making some ship designs all day yesterday, love this game like crazy haha.

Functional and cool looking. Nice job.

Do you just fly around mining, or do you have some base somewhere that you ship your haul back to?
Syntek  [author] 27 Sep, 2014 @ 2:45pm
@brifiction: Thank you :). As for the issue you spoke of, I tried many different things to recreate what you experienced, but it didn't rotate or pitch while the platform wasn't running.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
