Thanks!
Helot units and some general bodyguards still wear pilos helmets, I exercised some restraint 😉
The way I see it, someone in the DeI team had sheer contempt for Sparta, which is why the entire faction got buckets instead of helmets 🤣
(IT'S A JOKE, I have nothing but respect for the DeI team, ofc)
If you care about pilos helmets, doesn't look like this mod is for you.
As for bracers, they're already present in the DeI Spartan roster, I simply added them to some other units and removed the 80% cap.
If you want to remove bracers, you can do so by modifying the unit's variant mesh definition.
Here are a couple of bracer references, delete them and you'll see no more bracers:
<VARIANT_MESH model="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/accessories/wrist_bronz_1.rigid_model_v2" imposter_model="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/accessories/wrist_bronz_1.rigid_model_v2" />
<VARIANT_MESH
model="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/accessories/wrist_bronz_2.rigid_model_v2" imposter_model="VariantMeshes/_VariantModels/man/accessories/wrist_bronz_1.rigid_model_v2" />
Cheers!
Apologies, I'll give you back the money you paid for this mod.
I won't be able to sleep at night, how could I possibly think that ancient armies weren't standardized the way modern armies are?
The audacity!!!!
Also, it's perfectly "real" for Sparta to conquer Illyria, Italy, Carthage, Anatolia, Syria, Mesopotamia, nearly all Mediterranean islands, etc... as long as everybody wears a pilos
The Spartans disdained heavy armor from the 5th century onwards, as it hindered their movement and left them vulnerable to flanking and skirmishers. Towards the 4th century they had by and large adopted linen armor and as well as the Pilos, as both were EASY to make and also EFFECTIVE. Again, the Spartans, out of ALL the greeks, LOVED practicality, simplicity, and efficiency. It's a trifecta that is rarely matched today.
Also sad face at added bracers.
I don't doubt that pilos helmets were used, but I doubt that there was such thing as a "main helmet".
Anyway, this is a game meant to rewrite history, I just completed a campaign as Sparta, invading Illyria, Italy, Carthage, Anatolia, Syria, Mesopotamia, nearly all Mediterranean islands, etc.
I also adopted Cleomenes III and Leonidas II...
Ditching pilos helmets almost entirely makes way more sense than any of this 😅
