The Social Link System
Social Links are a key mechanic in the Persona series and represents the bonds you've formed with people throughout your journey. In Persona 3 Reload, there are 22 Social Links, with a few that rank up via story progression, but most following a point system (Social Link Points) for ranking up.



Here are all the ways you can earn Social Link Points to rank up your Social Links:
  • Spend time with them (rank up events, phone invitations, film festival, etc.)
  • Choose dialogue responses that make them happy (and gifting items)
  • Draw a relationship fortune at Naganaki Shrine
  • Meet them during your evening walks with Koromaru (non-S.E.E.S. only)
  • Use a Dating Site Note at the Dorm's Shared PC (available starting November 11)
Note: Despite Dorm Hangout Events showing notes that imply Social Link Points are gained, they don't seem to actually provide any points (or very little, as some tests imply they give at most 2 points with max multipliers).

Social Link Points also do not carry over between rank ups, but any points earns during the rank up event are counted towards your next rank's progression. It's therefore important that you choose responses that net you the most points during these events to minimize the amount of time needed to meet the next rank up requirement.

On top of the stated S. Link Points value, there are also a number of ways to boost how many points you earn for the interaction. This is important to keep in mind as it can make the difference between needing to spend only one activity with a S. Link compared to two or more.

What are Link Episodes?
These are new, time-sensitive events that are made available during specific times in the story and are effectively Social Links in all but name. They're not exclusive to members of S.E.E.S. either, and watching them will reward with you stat boosts and special persona fusion recipes, so definitely prioritize completing them (They're technically called Linked Episodes because they're linked together, as in you have to watch them as they're made available to you in order to continue future episodes; but I prefer Link Episodes because of the term "Social Link," and because it's called Link Episodes in Japanese).

Link Episode Schedule Details
Link Episodes must be completed before their deadlines, otherwise you'll be locked out of viewing future episodes. In addition, characters will not always remind you about their Link Episodes being available via phone mails, so it's a good idea to pull up your map and look for exclamation mark icons to be certain they haven't unlocked yet.

Each episode's weekly availability somewhat follows a set schedule and will reappear at least a few times (with some exceptions), so plan ahead but don't fret if you're unable to view them for a period of time as long as you're not close to their deadlines.

All information found here & in my other guides are based on my knowledge of past versions of Persona 3, as well as countless hours of personal testing since the game's release. There's a lot of conflicting information regarding the mechanics of P3R posted by various sites due to the existence of these prior versions, but I'm confident that what I've posted here is accurate. The Social Link multipliers stack multiplicatively, so having a matching Persona Arcana, max Charm, and scoring the highest in your latest exam will give you 3.44x more points (rounded down per points interaction). That means if you have three dialogue prompts in an event with each giving 5 base points, you'll have earned a total of 51 points.

I believe the multiplier from doing well on exams only applies to Social Links that occur at your school, so any that can be progressed during the holidays (Moon included) shouldn't benefit from it.

The multipliers affect all actions that provide Social Link points, so this naturally includes Dating Site Notes, Film Festival Invitations, and Phone Hangout Events.

Both the Film Festival Invitations and Dating Site Notes provide 10 base Social Link points.

A few quick questions:

-Do the point multipliers stack additively, or multiplicatively? For example, say I'm at the scene that advances the Justice link to rank 9. I make all three right choices (+5 base each), have a Justice persona in my active roster, have max Charm, and scored the highest on the latest exam. Will I earn 51 points (thus getting enough for the final rank), or just 37 (thus needing a hangout, dating site note, etc. to max out)?

-Does the bonus from scoring high on exams apply to all social links, or just school-related ones?

-How many points do you get from using a dating site note, and how much from inviting someone/accepting an invitation to the Film Festival?

-Do the multipliers affect points gained from the Film Festival or dating site notes?

I believe you have the wrong person, as both my 100% Perfect Schedule Guide and Legacy Version Guide have the player purchase and use the Iwatodai Forum Note before Elizabeth's Requests unlock on May 10.

December 24 is considered a "holiday" for romanceable social links. It's a special exception because they invite you out for Christmas Eve if you romanced them.

I'm editing my stream videos and realise later I mistyped, I meant the 24th and 25th. But yeah it was throwing me a little because Christmas isn't a holiday (in as much as you go to school) but she wasn't around.

Good catch on Mitsuru not being available on December 25, I updated the Empress schedule note slightly to reflect this. I do believe she's available on the 26th though.

As for Koromaru's Link Episodes availability in December, Aigis does make an appearance in a few of his Link Episodes, so you're probably right in that they just lock you out of all of them when key characters aren't available (I noticed they do this after important events have recently occurred, but didn't consider what the exact reasoning for this was).

Observation: Koromaru is possibly unavailable for Link Episodes during December, due to events surrounding Aigis. I was wondering why he wasn't turning up at all, and suspect it's because of that. (Or just the ep I am up to requires Aigis.)

In addition, Mitsuru wasn't available on December 25 and 26 for some reason.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Both dialogue options actually give +5 (1 music note), but I only marked one of them as doing so. Just fixed it.

Hello! In the Emperor Rank 2 -> 3, neither option gives a music note. Hope this helps!
